So far:
Chicken pot pie with potatoes, carrots, brocolli stems (the florets are going into cream of vegetable soup), onions and a drop-biscuit crust (I'm too lazy to roll out biscuit dough)
Yam soup - yam, onion, coconut milk, chipotle and arbol chiles, blended together
Hot chocolate - with fresh-whipped cream, vanilla and marshmllows
In progress: The Chairman's special wings. A two day affair. The chicken is brining in the fridge right now. I don't have the patience for anytihng like that.
Later: Cream of vegetable soup: Potatoes, leeks, brocolli florets, carrots, milk and cream

Now you got me thinking.. I have lobster carcasses in my fridge for stock, and shrimp and scallops... and chicken... maybe I'll make a paella too, or a risotto...
I also have fresh basil and ground chicken, so maybe chicken with basil and oyster sauce, but that is more of a quick and easy after a long dya of work thing...

Man, I need to get myself a girlfriend to cook for me. Seriously though, your meals are making me quite hungry Quinn and Too Cute.
I am having my traditional chicken breasts with cheddar cheese potato chips breading and then with melted cheddar and pepper jack cheese over the top. YUM!
Then I have some corn that I fry up with bacon and onion. I usually do green beans but I ran out.
I also make some KILLER Old English Style FISH & CHIPS! Fresh cod breaded in an egg batter and then fried until golden brown with some homestyle fresh cut french fried potatoes. Maybe I'll give up art and take up cooking!

I LOVE fish and trips but never made it at home... I don't have enough patience in my batter-making skills... what kind of batter do you use?
I have malt vinegar just waiting to go for fries, but it never happens. I need a mandoline to cut fries for me!

Now, I wait for the Apple pie to finish baking..
That's plenty for today.

This could really head off in a bad direction here. Tee hee. (?)
Seriously though, I just mix in an egg, water, some paprika and flour with a shot of milk and it gets nice and fluffy. I am actually craving that now. MMM!

I have just put in a 3 lb. roast in the oven that I have been marinating for 2 days in a garlic and herb mixture. It smells pretty damn good.
BTW...hiya Quinn!

I LOVE fish and chips but never made it at home
Fish & chips are easier than you think. You will need cod, potatoes, pancake mix and 1 beer. Take any regular pancake mix batter and mix in 1 beer (any beer will be suffice). Coat the cod with flour then add to batter. Cut the potatoes into steak fries. Now it is best to make them into that cut because they will cook more consistent with the cod. Heat your oil to about 375 degrees and drop in the cod and fish. Cook both until desired crispiness. Season with Sea Salt anf freshly crackerd pepper. I see your already on your way with the malt vinegar. Fish & Chips are delicous and great for a change of pace.
As for tonight. Foreseeing this blizzard yesterday I broke out the Omaha steaks my uncle sends me every Christmas. They are the 8 oz. filet mignon cut and are fabulous. I bake potato wedges for around 2 hours at 350 degrees. The potato's are seasoned with fresh herbs and extra virgin olive oil. They are topped with a sour cream and dill sauce that is so good! Creamed spinach and hot Italian bread are included as well.

Lunch was grilled swiss cheese on wheat with Tomato soup. Looks like dinner will be italian sausage ravioli with sauce, and a salad. Of course, if Quinny wants to jump in her 4x4 and get over here, that could all change.( wah wah wah )

Well I made that 'paella'
Note: cheap spanish saffron not as good as expensive iranian saffron. I had to use like a pinch of it to get any saffron flavor!
no chorizo, so I used italian sausage
half chicken, half lobster stock
only boneless skinless chicken breast
shrimp
beans
ok, so it's not exactly paella. but it's pretty good.

For lunch I made a nice 3 cheese and salami omlette. Unfortunately, my milk went sour, so the eggs weren't as fluffy as they should be.
For dinner, broiled cheeseburgers with a side of shrimp.

try water next time.
Jeff Smith always advocated the use of water rather than milk in omlettes. I just use straight eggs, and get them fluffy by aerating them well pre and post-pouring into the pan.

I'll bite on this thread...frankly, as listeners to this show, I can't believe more people haven't posted in this one...
My diet today...
Coffee...
Slice of Calandra's bread, well toasted, topped with yesterdays chili and a lightly fried egg...
Put a couple of pork chops in a shallow dish with a marinade consisting of soy sauce, chopped ginger, sliced scallion, sesame oil and rice vinegar...then spent hours shoveling.
Went inside for a big cup of chicken soup I made earlier in the week.
Dinner was the pork chops, pan fried then finished in the oven with sliced, par-boiled, roasted potatoes and carrots, coated with olive oil, salt and pepper...small side salad of greens.
Good day, all things considered.

Definitely the most delicious sounding meal on this thread so far. Everything sounds great...maybe breading the chops would work as well. I'm big on crusts.

That's why he was known as "Frugal".
I'm sorry for editing myself, but the molestation references I made initially were a bit much, even for me.

I was alone in the house, but my brother and sister-in-law with niece in tow are coming over tomorrow, so this is what I made...
SARMA - a croatian dish with cabbage and meats...
I started making a spicy tomato base to make a full-on sauce tomorrow... let the flavors mingle in the fridge... I experimented with a sauce on Friday so now I'm perfecting it...
I brought my Foreman grill home to make my chicken italiano recipe that my mother gave me...
and I'm seriously debating making my anti-seafood jambalaya.
