i, after recently falling out of contact with a girl who i felt would be the end-all-be-all perfect girl for me, have finally realized that love is not an endeavor that i have any business chasing. i can't even describe how sure i was about this girl. after believing i had found the perfect girl many times before, and making the vow that the last one would truly be THE LAST ONE, this girl made me believe in love again. after promising to myself never to be a sucker again, this girl forced me to reconnect with the feelings i thought i had burried to deep to recover.

the trouble is, right now if she called me, unlike "all the girls i've loved before", i don't think i could bring myself to hang up on a chance to be with her. i am f'n hopeless.

I guess my answer would depend on why you guys "fell out of contact" with each other.

Actually (and unfortunately) I think it is VERY rare for people to find their "soul mates" immediately and very young in life. I know my sister married her high school sweetheart and they have been married for many years - but situations like that are, as I said, are rare. Unfortunately, I believe, as the old saying goes "you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your prince or princess (as the case may be)".

Just look at dating as kind of learning and experiencing life and other people. So have patience! Again, as I said, a lot of people don't meet their soul mates for many years. Maybe the reason for this, is so that we have learned so many things from our mistakes that we won't make them when the "real one" comes along.
