My philosophy is that words are just word, so don't give a rats ass about them. People have the right to believe anything that they want to. However if they act on those feelings other than just slurs and the like, then they need to be stopped.

But to answer your question, I haven't found anyone on the board to be truely racist, people might joke around now and then but it's all in good fun.

It all depends on how one defines "racism"
I dont think its an all or nothing concept but there are levels and gradations:

1) recognising that people from certain groups will most likely have similar behavior and traits

2) Disliking those traits, and being more aware of people of that race who posess them.

3) disliking the PEOPLE of that race solely because they are of that race ( and have those traits you despise)

4) taking action - actively taking your dislike for another race to the level of eliminating that which angers you.

I have to honestly say it varies with me as to what is happening in my life at the time..but i waver between 1 and 2.

The examples that I am thinking of are the times when Horde King-- a moderator with responsiblility to keep order in the threads-- repeatedly called for the mass genocide of millions of Arabs. That it racism, that is not in jest, and that does not fit with the "disneyland" feel that Jeff has said that he wanted for rfnet. Preaching mass murder, especially from a moderator, has no place on this board, and I have been considering leaving because of it.

Just because something is written in the Koran doesn't mean all Muslims follow that principle. Some Muslim zealots interpret the scriptures in such a way as to make it sound justified. Maybe I'm naive, but I doubt that some of my Muslim coworkers in the Air Force are secretly plotting to kill me.

The bible advocates some pretty awful things and people have acted upon those verses (slavery, murder, ostracization), but nobody seems to be going around wanting all Christians dead.

One can probably look at the text of virually any religion and find some horrific stuff. I prefer to blame people, not literature. If you think that you can advocate the murder of an entire race of people based on the actions of a few and the literature of all, then we're in for a bumpy ride.

All he did was speak out repeatedly against many of the politcal and millitary actions and decisions made by the state of ISRAEL. He was not criticizing Jews themselves for being Jewish nor discriminating against them nor preaching bodily harm against them simply for what they are or who they pray to or where they were born. What he did is NOT racism. That is a difference of opinion with a legitimate foreign government. Israel, despite the "hype", does not speak for, nor represent all Jewish people around the world, and disagreeing with the policies of the Israeli government does not automatically make one an anti-semite.. Yerdaddy speaking out against Israel is him speaking out against the actions of a COUNTRY, NOT what defines that primary religion of the people that populate it.

Look I can't judge any one because of how they feel if some one wants to DISCUSS how they feel with some intelagence(sp) and not spew racist terms or just make stuff up then thats bullshit but when it is discused,it can only open peoples eyes to the different veiws that every one has.i dont consider myself racist
but ifeel that all the people responciable for 911 should die.........just like they feel we deserve to die because of something we have done for them to hate us.....there is no perfect world and i don't think if there was no hate no disagrements then we would have more problems then we do now...just like in a mariage it cant be all smiles , you need conflict to move forword.....In the end you are all entitled to your opions and we all have the right to question your opion and i think this is a great place to have these discusions and makes for a great way to get your veiws out

In retrospect, the thread should have been locked early on. This was a continuation of an issue which has been discussed many times before and we're never going to resolve.
