NANCY ATLAS.
This Friday, Nancy Atlas is going to be opening for Nancy Sinatra at the Downtown in Farmingdale (that is where the first big ass night of fights was). The doors open at 7, but I don't know exactly when Nancy Atlas is going to start playing.
The only trick of it is that tickets at the door are $25 ($20 in advance) so that is a bit steep, particularly since Nancy Sinatra is pretty much a one hit wonder (will someone tell me why she's touring? it's not like she needs the $$ is it?!)
In case you missed it before, Nancy Atlas is the sort of Osmond family of singers in that she's a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll (I'm going to assign values of 50% Allman brothers, 30%Bruce Springsteen and 20% Johnny Cash (or more properly, Lucinda Williams or Laura Cantrell perhaps) , and just imagine that all sung by a kickass chick whose voice verges on Melissa Etheridge or Janice Joplin, but never goes quite that far), and you can hear clips at www.nancyatlas.com. Who doesn't love a woman who writes a song that starts with "I've got bruises on my legs from dancing on too many bars" (okay, well Red Rock West-ophile that I am, *I* can't resist...)
Great great great great show, if it wasn't, I wouldn't be going to see her every few weeks.
