As it stands right now, WWE is moving forward with the idea of creating a "hard split" in the company's two brands - RAW and SmackDown! Currently, although it could change, WWE is moving forward with the plan of holding four RAW-only PPVs, and four SmackDown-only PPVs, with the two brands coming together for Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series. The upcoming June King of the Ring pay-per view is expected to be the first brand-only show, with it being the RAW brand PPV.

Vince McMahon is said to be prepared for a drop in PPV buyrates while fans adjust to the new PPV system, much like he did in TV ratings when the brand extension first took place. The general consensus is if the fans take to it and they can establish two seperate brands, in the long run it will help drastically.

WTF are they thinking?

Wat do you guys think of this?

So you will still be paying 35 dollars to see less matches you want to see. This cheats the fans and now will just be glorified Raws and Smackdowns.

I thought all the complaining & ratings drops would get them to see the light & put it all back together...this is yet another AWFUL idea. Damnit!

Vince's reasoning for it is even worse. this is what Dave Scherer from 1wrestling said:

The word making the rounds is that Vince McMahon decided to go forward with the idea after last month's Madison Square Garden house show when he heard the crowd react negatively when Triple H couldn't work his scheduled match against Brock Lesnar, due to his leg injury. On that night, Team Angle filled in for H and it ended up as a Smackdown main event on a Raw brand house show. As the story goes, Vince reportedly took the fans' negative reaction to the substitution to mean that they were angry because they wanted to see an all Raw show, and didn't come to see a Smackdown main event.

he really can't be that blind. people paid money for a main event they were now not getting and were pissed about it. i considered the guy as being really smart for a long time. i may need to change my mind.

Have you been watching WWE TV lately?

Vince not only can be that blind, he IS that blind.

only way to merge both shows together again , would have to be a 50 percent roster cut.. at first I hated the split. but now i like it.. I get to see more people and more stories .. so maybe the new pay per view idea will work, i like it.. but what does that matter

Shane needs to kill Vince and take over.... Gladiator style!

So they think people will pay $35 for a pay-per-view with half the stars? Fuck people aren't paying for the regular ones!

It only makes sense. Now that the WWE doesn't really have any outside competition, Vince can give you a sandwich made of shit and make you eat. Which is pretty much what he is doing right now.

GGGGGGG-UNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Certainly some people would be cut...but (and this is a big but), they could do some crazy shit like:

- Bring back a midcard belt to help create more storylines and give them some semblance of meaning. I like Matt Hardy and all, but the fact that to help put him over they're having him pretend to drop weight & wrestle for the Cruiserweight strap is beyond ridiculous. This is why there needs to be an IC/US Title.

- Make HEaT & Velocity less of recap shows & make them even more of a proving ground for young wrestlers. You know, don't show me the obligatory Crash Holly vs. Jacqueline intergender match once a month, but let the young part of the roster put on a full hour show every week.

- If you feel that your audience needs a recap show, I'm sure TNN could spare an hour on Saturday night or Sunday morning...take it oldschool. Then you can clean it up for the kiddies who'll be the only one watching that kind of show.

'Member last year in the storyline when Vince said he wanted to kill his own creation? Maybe he really wants to do it now.

This is gonna suck. So as opposed to twelve PPVs a year, we're gonna have 24? Or is going to be 8 PPVs each show and then the 4 major PPVs with both brands? That's 2 events a month right? And that doesn't include the major shows? Where's all this math coming from!? Oh my head hurts.

Without a doubt! Instead of makin Shannon Moore follow Matt around and Mark Jindrak wrestling jobbers in OVW, put them on a heat or velocity

What? And not play another re-run of Star Trek? Are you mad?

Oh and its gonna be- 4 Raw PPVs, 4 Smackdown! PPVs and 4 PPVS with them combined
