Being that this is one of the rare times I am not working on a Saturday night, I started thinking about how much I loved WCW Saturday Night. Back during WCW PB (Pre Bischoff), they used to have all of their non PPV and most important matches on this show. Way before Nitro was even a thought. I especially loved the in studio segments where Jim Ross would have live guests in front of the audience. One of the funniest moments was when a country singer was co-hosting the show with Ross, and Rick Rude was the in studio guest. The singer asked him why he left the WWF. Rude looked very shocked that he was being asked this. I also loved the "interactive" phone-in polls where the fans can pick the main event matches for the live shows. I don't know if these were real polls or not, but the idea was very good.

I miss the good old days of NWA World Championship Wrestling from the WTBS STUDIOS in Atlanta. Almost every week there would be a surprise, and that is when the birth of the most elite group in wrestling history. the original 4 horse men Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn and Ole Anderson

i liked when Gordon Solie used to give reviews of what was going on around the whole wrestling world. he would talk about and show clips of Japan and even WWF stuff.

Who remembers the Sunday morning show, with Larry Zybisco and that guy whose name I forgot. They just sat at a desk and went over clips from house shows. Those were the days when I was just ADDICTED, and I'd grab any second of wrestling I could take.

I remember there was a show called pro wrestling this week with Gordon Solie and Joe Pedicino. They would show highlights from alot of federations. especially the old NWA Territories like Florida, The Mid Atlanti region etc.

WCW Saturday Night was the GREATEST. I have a lot of classic old matches from back in the day, the early 90s, when WCWSN was at it's peak. You'd get tons of AWESOME matches, like Ricky Steamboat going against a young "Stunning" Steve Austin, or you'd have guys like Barry Windham putting on great with Arn Anderson. Hell, I remember one great match that had Arn in a 2 out of 3 falls technical wrestling clinic with none other than Mat "Big Josh" Borne (who you probably remember better as Doink the Clown). It was a fantastic show.

Once Nitro and Thunder came to be, the show was still decent, because you'd have midcard guys like Booker T and Dean Malenko wrestling good, long matches with each other. Plus WCW wasn't afraid to use a lot of their younger talent on the show, guys like Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Chris Kanyon, and even Sonny Siaki.

BTW, the specific interview you were referring to was when Jim Ross had Randy Owen, lead singer / frontman of the classic country music group "Alabama" on, along with his son. It was Owen who asked Rude that question. That was back in the day when pratically NOTHING "inside" was said on wrestling TV, so Rude was a bit nonplussed.

I think his name was Chris "Chrispy" Cruise.

And I loved finding out what "Joe Pedicino knows"
