View Full Version : NWA-TNA: ECW Invasion?

On last night's program they had the return of the dynamic duo of Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger as well as Julio Dinero making his TNA debut (against Raven of all people).

Over the past weeks, they brought in "The King of Old School" Steve Corino, The Sandman and Raven. They already have tremendous ECW talents in Jerry Lynn, Tony Mamaluke, Kid Kash and EZ Money.

Marks, is this ECW trend a good thing for the product or should they stick to indy talents?

What about an XPW invasion? They are basically, 80% former ECW workers.

although Steve Corino annoys the hell out of me Bringing in ECW wrestlers is pretty ingenius. Most of them have been exposed to the wrestling audience and have crediblity. Plus Kid Kash and EZ Money are F'n awesome[Who shot who in the what now?]

I won't truly mark-out till I see the return of "Dances-with-Dudley".

Funny, Dinero was backstage at SmackDown just a few weeks ago...good to see Simon, could definitely do without Swinger, though.

ugh, even with Raven, Corino, and Sandman, these people do not make an ECW invasion.... cash money, or whoever, and Simon Diamond? these are the people who had the SAME matches against each other the last few PPV's of ECW's existance, and while entertaining, they didn't go anywhere and left you thinking, "who are these people and why are they fighting each other again?"

Most of the people who are really "necessary" for a good ECW invasion are still in WWE.... god they came so close to doing it right......

and Stephanie had to stick her tits, er, nose in it... :-(

other than that, only 2 non-WWE people can make an ECW "invasion" viable on TNA:

Cactus Jack and Shane Douglas

otherwise, don't even bother...

To do this right you would need: Van Dam, Sabu, Douglas, Dreamer, Richards, Taz, Alfonso, Storm, Credible and the Foul Mouth Still stutterin Dudleys, and to be quite honest i wouldve loved for it to have been Joey Styles instead of Tony Shciavone

viddy what todd did!

and to be quite honest i wouldve loved for it to have been Joey Styles instead of Tony ShciavoneTony Schiavone appeared only one night to further the beef of S.E.X. and Tenay/tradition and it seems like he is gone permanently (thank God) from what I read in Borash's column a few weeks ago.

other than that, only 2 non-WWE people can make an ECW "invasion" viable on TNA:

Interesting choices.

Mick Foley: He seems unlikely to go the route of TNA because it would probably be an unwise career move. He could always promote a book worldwide with WWE and Vince probably has him on some sort of contract that we don't know about.

Shae Douglas: Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Shane Douglas one of the main guys/owners of XPW? I'm very unfamiliar of it cuz we don't get it here so can someone clarify.

Like I said in my opening post on my topic, XPW is pretty close to being ECW-lite... so I propose an XPW invasion of TNA, that would be huge.

This week, New Jack became the latest addition to the mini-ECW Invasion when he teamed with Saturn and The Sandman against S.E.X. members "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and the Harris Brothers!

I was thinking the same thing. I was really hoping that he would be the mystery partner. How amazing would that have been? I miss Total Elimination so much.

From the looks of last night, TNA should be called TNA Extreme.

**First a beer gut lookin' Mike Awesome becomes a member of Father James Mitchell's New Church.

**Then Justin Credible joined the ranks of the "Extreme Brotherhood" alongside New Jack, Saturn and The Sandman!

In all honesty though, after the shock value wears off, what is the purpose of having all of these old ECW guys here? This federation should realy be focusing on the X-division. Sure, the weekly suprises would really make me mark out (of course is stupid friggin' Dish Network actually showd TNA), but as a long term project, I don't see the point. If anything it really saddens me as a long time ECW fan to see these guys in their state. Mike Awesome was said to be totally out of shape.

No RVD, NO Tazz, No Tommy Dreamer, No Dudley Boyz, No Lance Storm, No Paul Heyman, No Joey Styles, No Shane Douglas= watered down ECW lite.

Like FatTony said in the other thread... please don't turn this into ECW! Hell I don't mind it, but it still won't be the same.

I like the addition of ECW alumn almost every week but they still have to continue to develop stars like Siaki, Young, Red if they ever want to compete. This is what WCW did but on a smaller scale.

This is crazy sheeeet! Stop the ECW train!

I completely agree. We need to see their original guys getting more time like Siaki, who reminds me of a younger version of the Rock, but better. I like seeing the ECW allumni in the mix. But TNA is making guys who didn't get much of a break in WWE like Raven and D'Lo and Jerry Lynn more exposure, which I like. And yes, ten bucks a month just ain't covering it. We need to see some fierce competition. And an XPW invasion would be great to see. good exposure for both companies.

Oh god help us. I use to be a very large fan of XPW, but between all their recent legal troubles, cancelled shows, and cutting of awesome talent (i.e. Kaos and G.Q. Money.) I have shyed away from XPW and enjoy TNA now.
