I don't know the name of his song because I refused to watch the rest of it but suddenly I hear "Dream On" by Aerosmith and stop, and SHIT! It's THIS asshole!

FUCK YOU ASSHOLE!!!

Now I know that Aerosmith probably had to give it's permission to have him use it, but I am still LIVID!

You are an idiot. If he is not your taste fine, but give it a fucking break already.

The song is called Sing for the Moment and it is actually one of his better songs on the album. And yes I like Aerosmith and Dream on is one of my favorite aerosmith songs.

not they are not up, but they will be. you have to hit your highest point before coming down, and he can't get much higher.

people who base thier career on gimicks instead of talent cannot stay at the top, they can get there by the mass audience that is ready to buy whatever mtv tells them too, but they won't stay there forever because the fans are as fickle as the music.

i used to loathe eminem, but now i don't bother. how many more songs can he put out about how controversial he is or how he hates the mainstream and how he hates his wife and mother? well, true it's eminem and he'll probably put out another 50 of them.

but i am happy in the knowledge that he'll barely be around in the future. do you remember when the backstreet boys were teh only thing on the radio, or even vanilla ice for that matter. i used to pray for the day when their careers were over and you know what? they all did end, happy fucking day.

#1 album
#1 singles
Grammys, all sorts of awards

where are they now? oh yeah, at the bottom of the talentless shithole they belong in. those accalaides are not helping their untalented asses now, just like all of eminem's will not help him later.

we can argue this all day but the truth of the matter is sooner rather than later he wont be such a big deal, and then you can come up with all the excuses you want why he isn't on top. but we'll all know why.

Me. Always have and always will.

If I loathe Led Zeppelin, why would I want to hear the watered-down, gay American counterpart? Feh.

I actually like Eminem, but I can't STAND this song...or "Cleaning Out My Closet"...way to release the WORST songs on your album, deek.

Like Jay-Z, another MC I think could be unstoppable (But just keeps rapping on and on and fucking ON about "big pimpin'"), Eminem is stuck in this cycle of rapping about the same shit again and again. Yes, we GET IT. You hate your mom. Fame is misery. Everyone is out to get you. Your public enemy #2 after Iraq. MOVE THE FUCK ON. The guy IS a monstrously talented MC, but he's sure digging himself into a pit with each album. Way to feed the masses the easy shit, Marshall.

He's got hope...his songs on the "8 Mile" soundtrack as "Rabbit" were better than anything on "The Eminem Show". Let's see some more variety...what happened to the crazy guy who showed up on all those Rawkus records and mix albums back in the day?

And 50 Cent bites ASS. He's Ma$e and Fabolous with slightly better beats. Being shot in the jaw does not give you "cred"...it makes you sound like a DOUCHEMASTER.

<font color=purple>True. And yes, he has a gimmick working for him. But he also has talent. Lots of talent. If not, he would've disappeared long ago. One hit is a fluke. Dozens of hits, millions of record sales AND numerous Grammy awards aren't.

but i am happy in the knowledge that he'll barely be around in the future. do you remember when the backstreet boys were teh only thing on the radio, or even vanilla ice for that matter.

He's already been around longer than both. And neither they, not Britney, nor N'SYNC, nor any of the other flash-in-the-pan examples you could offer up have even come close in terms of critical acclaim.

He may share the same wigger mall rat fan base as all these other acts, but that's where the similarities end.

Say he's exploiting his whiteness. Or black culture. Or that every song is essentially about the same this. And I might actually agree with you, but to say that he's untalented is just plain stupid.

03-04-2003, 10:05 AM
The Eminem backlash is just now beginning. I think the gimmick is wearing off. I'll admit, his style is/was unique, but now that we're used to it.... it's alot less impressive. The "shockingly" violent lyrics, the crude humour, and dissing of celebrities....it was cool back in '99.

That whole "you don't understand the REAL me" thing has been done a million times. Most recently by another huge-ass phony named Kurt Cobain.

Em is just another millionaire pretending to have it so rough. Wah, wah, waaah.

well, to explain myself further i do not believe he is void of talent. i've been a rap fan for a long time and do know a good rapper when i hear one. eminem is not awful, i believe he is a good rapper, decent but defintetly not great.

some of his earlier stuff is actually not that bad, i don't hate all of his stuff.

but the fact is his mainstream stuff is just real catchy garbage that does not show off his talent at all. his beats and rhymes are just too catchy, soley based on selling records and not perfecting his craft. he blasts against pop music and pop stars but he's really no different, he's just packaged differently.

now there's nothing wrong with selling records and getting acclaim if that's what you are into, but i'm more into substance and skill than how many records sold.

biggie had catchy beats and he sold millions, but his talent and his rhymes were untouchable. and he didn't need a gimic to hide behind either.

i don't blast eminem as some talentless fuck, in actuality it pisses me off because i think he could be much better than he actually is. he shows promise but he'll never get there the with the path he's traveling. but i think the reason i hate him the most is that the mass media and audience want to portray him as "real", when in reality he's just another puppet bringing in millions.

unless he decides to focus on improving his rap style and stop worrying about his image he will fade into nothingness, and since he shows no signs of doing this i believe that's exactly where he'll end up. but i guess we'll see.

Aerosmith is and has been washed up for a long time. Every so often they get off their creaky old asses and make a song for a movie or make a lame album that the press calls fabulous or cutting edge.

Feminem, should have died after his 1st mainstream (Dr. Dre produced) album.

You can say what you want about him, but if he were to die later today, i would celebrate it and then piss on his grave. Feminem is an asshole and a scumbag. he has no talent, and can't write shit. if it weren't for Dre he would still be working at some porn shop as a jiz mopper.

I'm bringing this back because the sentiment is right. Eminem MUST be stopped.

Has anyone heard his new song, "Just Lose It?" Sweet Lord, I just had the misfortune of seeing the video on TV, and it's by FAR THE worst song put out by ANY major artist in ANY genre this year.

I think the guy's first two albums are fantastic, but damn, that last one was weak as hell, and if this new song is any indication, his downward spiral is just sliding right along.

First of all, who told this pube-headed bitch he should produce his own songs? Just because you hang AROUND Dr. Dre doesn't mean you can suddenly make a decent track. The whole song sounds like it's baing backed by a fey German disco-synth band from the mid-80's.

And for all his hollow railing against "pop music," Eminem's just made the most pre-packaged, bubblegum-sounding, catering to pre-teens bullshit I've heard since the last N'Sync album. He's rapping about fucking farting, for Christ's sake.

Look, maybe this song is some brilliant smokescreen, setting us up for the blazing and mind-blowing social commentary that will be unleashed on his new album, with everything else produced by Dre...but I doubt it.

He'll sell a bajillion copies of the new album...but it'll all be to people under the age of 15. I haven't seen anyone sell out this spectacuarly in, like, EVER, but man, it's gonna be fun to watch.

I saw the video a couple days ago and it's hands down the worst thing I've ever seen put out by Eminem. I'll defend myself, I don't care what people say I loved his first two albums. But this is such a bad song/video that just the thought of it makes me want to vomit.

The new video has a cameo by Paris Hilton. The old Eminem would have beat her on the head with a baseball bat in one of his earlier videos.

Sell out!

Every album he's released has had the first single be all poppy. Then he releases more hard stuff. It seems to be his formula.

Well, yeah, that's obvious, but this song is just SO bad, it's even worse than the shit songs he does with D12. And most of the "harder" stuff on the last album ending being not too good at best.

Dude's got too much control over his music, and that's always a bad move in hip-hop. The best rap acts always have the rapper(s) and the DJ/producer SEPERATE but working together. Now that he's rapping AND doing his own music, both have suffered.

what if a law was passed not allowing rappers to talk about crack, guns, or money? what would we have left?

We would have the real issues left that the REAL rappers rap about.

What about El-P? Or Mobb Deep?

So, I couldn't figure out what was going on - it seemed like it was trying to be some sort of commentary on kid touchers, but was too limp dicked to actually come out and really anything about it/against it/for it/ whatever...?!

The song has numberous lines that seem to indicate that this topic was part of an inside joke between him a Dre (maybe?), and they recorded it thinking it was obviously funny, or some shit like when Madonna (or Elvis in his day) would go out and tell jokes, and all of their people would laugh hysterically, but everyone else seems not to get it.

Then the video - with Michael Jackson and Pee Wee, and the Bad Santa - and then the inappropriate dancing children who looked like they escaped a JC Penny commercial, also seems to want to make its point, but I couldn't figure out what it was, because then there he is streaking and in jail and trying to pick up Dre because he got too drunk, and then he's back on the set of "8 MILE.

wtf??

Don't get it...is it just a silly dance song, that finds humor in kid touching and fart jokes, or is it a sophisticated and subtle jab at crappy pop dance music and is trying to do the Oliver Stone/NATURAL BORN KILLERS route of becoming the very thing you are critical of?

definitely this new song is crap but its his first single for the new album. so ofcourse its gonna be bad.

and am i wrong to say i like his producing? loose yourself was great, the beat he made jay-z for the black album was great, the beat he made for xzibit and himself off of man vs machine was great. if he made the beat for this single then yes its bad. but other than that i cnat think of beat by him that i dont like.

That's my take on it. I don't know if it's sophisticated so much as it's a crude attempt on his part to make a point regarding pop music and the people in it.

Sorry - I should have made the point of putting the word sophisticated in quotes! haha

Hasn't anyone learned the lessons of the Good Charlottes and Blinks of the world that it's tough to mock something when you are that very same thing...of course, that point is lost on their target audiences; the teenage boys who want to feel superior to their little sister's music.

He produced at least half of his last album (Including the song this thread inspired and "Cleaning Out My Closet"), and pretty much all of the last D12 album.

He's production is too "thin"...it all sounds like it was made on a little Casio.

Moe if you think Eminem using Dream On is bad, theres a rapper out there remixing Ozzy. Now thats bad. All rpa today sucks ass anyways. If only Dre would come out with just one more album with Snoop that would be good. Rap today just has shitty ass beats and gay lyrics.
