I don't think there is any doubt that the Jets will match the offer...even thought getting the Redskins first round pick (13th overall) as compensation will make them at least think about it for a few minutes.

I guess the Redskins only had scouts at Jets games last year. Either that or they want to get as much heat as possible for the Thursday Night Season opener in DC. (Jets vs. Skins).

Actually because of the signing bonus clause th redskins put in the contract and some roster bonuses it would make it difficult for the jets to re-sign him plus the signing bonus is too much for the jets to match. Thanks for being the redskins minor league affiliate.
and they must have had scouts at the games of the Rams (Trung Canidate), the 49ers (Dave Fiore), the Cowboys (Brendon Knoble), the Raiders (Regan Upshaw), and the Packers since they signed a safety of theirs to an offer sheet and the Titans since they are pursuing Kevin Dyson

Don't get too upset, the Redskins are ruining their team with these Jets signings. If one or more of them gets injured, they won't be able to fit a waterboy under their cap with all the money they'll owe. You DO NOT pay a WR this much money, unless he's Jerry Rice in his prime.

The Jets can find a sleeper WR with two first round picks, or even deeper in the draft. It might hurt for a year or two until a new guy emerges to take his place, but you'll be laughing for the next 5 years as the Skins are cash-strapped & can't add another player at any position.

This might hurt the Jets, but it'll hurt Washington in the long run much more. Their owner is insane.

I'll say what I always say...
If he stays, he's the greatest of all time, and a pillar of the community.
If he goes, he was an overrated nothing who will retire because of an out of control yeast infection within a year.

Honestly, if he does go, he's going to naturally neutralized by a QB who is incapable of throwing a catchable pass. That money would be better spent on frozen ovens.

The contingency plan and spinning has already started.

If they let Coles goal, the Jets have already contacted Kevin Dyson's agent.

Plus with picks 13 (from the Redskins) and 22, they could easilly trade up and get an impact player.

All i can say is that i hate the skins with a passionand i hope they move to la or something.

Dan snyder wants to be the big man on campus like steinbrenner so fuckin bad. he signs over the hill superstars and overrated douchebags to contracts that would make alex rodriguez blush. unfortunately the nfl is built around talent, not payroll, and eventually dan snyder will have to pawn all his posessions, so he can sign ryan leaf for a comeback in 6 or 7 years.

it doesnt matter what player washington needs because dan always wants a name. that is why he fired marty after one year, after th eteam made the biggest comeback in league history, and he signed that country fag steve spurrier. i wouldnt be surprised to see the skins run a statue of liberty or maryland i form next year.

i better stop because i dont wanna go off on too much of a rant, but i think its too late. anyway, GO GIANTS

I heard Terry Bradaway on the FAN today and it sounds like the Jets are not going to match the offer to Coles, but it sounded like they are going to match the offer and keep Chad Morton.

There are a few Wide Reciever options in free agency. Besides the fragile Kevin Dyson, Ricky Proehl and Frank Sanders are unrestricted free agents.

why in the fuck would they sign Morton and not Coles... Morton is a running back and the jets have martin and lamont jordan already there... that is why morton is on kick off returns... coles is their best reciever and they need to match it.. just fucking cut vinnie and clear up some cash...

It sounded like a financial decision. Coles is being offered a 13 million dollar signing bonus by the Skins while Morton's signing bonus offer was only 2.5 million. Bradaway didn't give a definite answer but he said the Jets will be making an announcement regarding Morton on Thursday.

Funny, those were almost my sentiments exactly during the Bernie Williams/Scott Boras crap that went on with the Yankees a few years ago...only I think I had him retiring due to recurring bouts of amebic dysentery.

this is a nightmare. coles will leave, and not only do the jets lose a talented receiver, they lose a great teammate. the guy was behind chad 100% after the playoff loss, absolutely refusing to bad-mouth him. i dont see coles continuing to improve stats-wise. all the talent in the world wont do much if your qb sucks and you've got no chemistry with him. i see what could've been a hall-of-fame career now end up just 'good'. well, at least he's a rich man. i just dont understand why it couldnt be woody johnson that pays him the millions instead.
