what changes, if any would u make to America's superstation?

1- i would fire that old dude who bores dc in the mornings and let Don & Mike bore us for a while on morning drive. let them finish their career on top in mornings.
DM will succeed in any timeslot in DC. like it or not. they are a sure thing when it comes to numbers..

2- I would add R&F to afternoons 3-7pm
and promote the shit out of them.

3- i would add a new show to the 7-11 slot.
probably something off the wall..
maybe this new Perry & Cherrynoid show thats creating a small underground buzz. (cough)

7-11 is the right time for R&F: you could hear the difference in NYC whenever they changed timeslots.

But you're absolutely right about promoting them. If I were in charge of WJFK, I'd do a new ad campaign, build a new and better WJFK website and plug R&F.Net.

I'd also get rid of that fucking Redskins show AFTER THEIR SEASON ENDS.

Putting D&M on in the morning is definately the right idea, i would axe(literally) Oreilly. He sucks. i dunno what id do mid days, maybe find some sports program (like the junkies, but good), id hire OnA back for middays, and keep R&F for the night cap they really work well there.

The big thing to change though is the weekends. Pat Goss is a total tool. they also have 10 hrs DM replay on sat, and 9 hrs dm replay sundays. that got to chanege!

I'd advertise the fuck out of R&F and the brand-spanking-new MUSIC SHOW that's on Saturday and Sunday nights at 10 PM (Sometimes 9). It's hosted by three guys who are local musical journalists, and they play GREAT music. In the two shows I've heard they've played The La's, Morphine, Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Pixies, The Shins..good, good stuff, and they plug the hell out of local indie music stores. LISTEN IN, DAMMIT.

They are VERY close to making it work at WJFK - getting Ron and Fez live, and getting
rid of Gregg and Acne were two of the best moments of 2002 in DC Radio. All they
need to do is raid WHFS, and you instantly improve two stations.

3-7 - Don and Mike

7-11 - Ron and Fez

11-2 - Love Line (also moved from WHFS)

2-6 - Rotate the 3 local shows replay.

Def Dave - I stand corrected - WJFK didn't get rid of Gregg and Acne, they got rid of
themselves. Not the catholics, not the FCC, not JFK, not NEW, not Infinity, but they got
rid of themselves. Of course, since they see it differently, the GNA Parrot Heads will
see it that way.

(BTW, Spoony - when did Don ever say that he had something to do with GNA getting
tossed? If you have the MP3, please to share).

However, if things had been going the way they were going, WJFK would have had to
pull the plug on them - going from 1st in the ratings to 18th on a timeslot that use to
generate over $3 - 4 million in revenue each week (in less than a year!) was not being
ignored. Yeah, I know what the GNA Parrot Heads will counter with - that Don and
Mike tanked in NY - but at least it was on a station and during a timeslot that never
got any ratings, so any money that DID come it was gravy - and for the record, their
ratings were twice a good as their lead in, Farrell, and consistant with the overnights,
but that's all water under the bridge - and some lemmings on here are all about
revising history.

This O&A vs. D&M crap is getting really old. It's pointless. I have my own preferences, but I at least have enough respect for other people to be okay with the fact that people like other things. I'm tired of this small-minded petty bullshit. Greg and Acne (which contrary to popular belief did originate or at least was widely diseminated by Don Geronimo -- see the shows during the big radio war at the end of May of last year)? D&M as radio AIDS? It's all so fucking childish.

Here's the way I see it. R&F were helped immensely in NY by aligning with O&A in NY and were able to build up a substantial following, but not one that is large enough to sustain a format on a dying station. In DC, R&F will be helped immensely by aligning with D&M, where they get an extremely strong lead-in. R&F success in DC is the first step in getting them on the air back in NY -- if they succeed, WYSP in Philly is a definitive possibility, followed by a return to NY.

Furthermore, although not all NY fans support O&A, and not all DC fans support D&M, this petty sniping still reinforces the NY vs. DC crap that's been springing up lately. A D&M fan who hears D&M talk about R&F and checks out this site is liable to be insulted and not give our buddays a chance, which is counterproductive. I'm guessing that having R&F on in DC is a test to see if they can succeed with a strong lead-in similar to the one they had with O&A. If they don't succeed, don't be surprised if they get shipped back to Florida. So we need the DC fan base to grow, not shrink.

And Stern...that's another one. Regardless of whether you think he's an arrogant ass who has lost his edge, you have to realize that he has been extremely influential in the format and has the biggest audience of the format. I'm so tired of the unoriginal and tired "hoo, hoo, Robin, I invented everything" rant. It's become a stupid cliche, and merely repeats an O&A bit. Even if you hate him, Stern can also help the careers of R&F, because having him on WJFK strengthens the station and makes "extreme talk" a more viable format for a station. Arguably, if Infinity had been able to convince Stern to move from KRock, WNEW might have been able to weather the loss of O&A, and our boys might have been able to remain in New York.

Sorry for the long-winded rant. I prefer to keep my posts short and to the point, but I'm so sick of the stupid attacks.
