From the PWtorch.com:

*****

It appears that the Rock vetoed his advertised match with Booker T this past Monday on RAW. The word going around is that Rock did not want to job to Booker T, partly due to the fact that he fealt it would benefit Triple H more than anybody else.

The Rock is said to be very upset with Triple H's backstage political power and saw the Rock/Booker match as a way of Triple H elevating himself further. The idea was that if Booker beat the Rock on RAW, then Triple H beat Booker at WrestleMania, Triple H would come out looking the best.

It is somewhat hard to believe that the Rock would really care about such matters now, due to his future in Hollywood, but that is what the buzz in the locker room has been.

The Rock did not mind losing to the Hurricane because the loss came off as a fluke rather than a legitimate win for the Hurricane.

The Rock also opposed jobbing to Booker T because he fealt that WWE had not put their heart behind Booker's push, and that the job would end up hurting the Rock more than helping Booker.

*****

Of course, this is all rumor.....but let's assume that it's true.

If it IS, than I support the Rock's action.

As a Booker T fan, I would have wanted for Booker to face Rock and beat him cleanly.

However, I can certainly see Rock's logic - why job to Booker, when that's all going to be for naught? Why go out and lay down for Book, when you know that in a month HHH is just going to beat him, and thus erase everything you've done to put Booker over....and in the process, make HHH look stronger than both Booker T AND the Rock.

It seems as if Rock is tired of HHH screwing over all of the hard work he's put into the company and into certain other wrestlers. He didn't want to build up Booker just for HHH to beat him at Mania. It's happened before (see Jericho, Chris).

****

And speaking of Booker / HHH, they'd better be careful here.

Because it wouldn't be good for there to be a month of build-up where Triple K repeatedly buries Booker as "not good enough" to face him (with the implication being because of race), and then defeats him at Mania. But then, I doubt the WWE really cares about doing the right thing.

The only thing that worries me about this angle is that now that Angle is hurt, I don't see both titles changing hands at Mania. I was actually starting to believe in two great matches: HHH losing to Booker & Angle surprisingly retaining against the Brock, proving once and for all that he is the fuckin' man. But now that Angle's title drop is money in the bank, I'm afraid HHH won't fucking lose!

This is killing me here beause I have been a fan of HHH for quite some time. I mean he always came across as the professional but that has all seemed to change and even though I don't HATE him just yet, if there is not a quality match and title change at WM, I will definitely be pissed off and very very dissapointed. Booker T is as good if not better than HHH on any given day and to be squashed in month long angles AND the biggest Main Event of the year would be a travesty. Has dating the bosses daughter and being practically in the "family" gone to HHH's head THIS MUCH? If so, it is truly a shame. Especially after the Maven match on Monday, he didn't even sell hardly any moves for Maven to even get a decent crowd response. Rock puutting over Hurricane was a great thing and I am behind him 100% for it.

Of course, this is all rumor

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. For the person who wrote this on torch, get some facts first. According to the internet Bret Hart and Goldberg are already in the WWE.

No way in hell do I see Booker losing at Wrestlemania. I will believe HHH is the full asshole everyone says he is, if he manages to win and kill the big push they are giving Booker now.

good for the rock. too bad he's not sticking around longer or he could really stop this politicking. it's so sad that there's no one to stop HHH's power...

but what about austin? he's probably going to stick around for at least a year or so, eventually they will have to have some sort of angle together. will HHH be able to keep austin down? it seems like he's the only one who can be bigger than him and put him in his place.

either way i start to hate hhh more and more each day but i'm not sure if it's because of politics or because his matches suck so bad.

This comes from Keller, though, who is generally fairly reliable in terms of news. He's not as reliable as Meltzer, whose word is practically gospel, but he's got a lot more cred than 1popup.com, who posts most of the "Bret Hart is already signed and will face McMahon at Wrestlemania!" bullshit rumors.

This Rock story may be entirely fabricated, I don't know, but I DO believe Keller when he says that this is the buzz in the locker room. Maybe Rock didn't want a match with Booker for other, non-HHH reasons, but if this was his reason, than I'm with him.

My point is every other day there is another day of a story of HHH pulling a powerplay in the lockerroom and sometimes it just seems too much already.

I am liking this feud with the walking a fine line of racism against Booker T. And can you deny that Booker has not been on a roll lately. Whose to say it wasn't Rock who did not want to lose to Booker T. I don't remember all their matches but did Booker T ever win a match in their feud when Booker first feuded with Rock.

Let me see Rock beat Booker T for his WCW title at Summerslam 2001. Next night on Raw Rock brings out the Booker T midget to make fun of him. Rock than beat him again in a 3 way match at Unforgiven against Booker and Shane.

Just some history for all those who hate HHH for no other reason than the internet told them to.

And yes I know also that rock jobs and sells better than anyone.

Even if nothing in this thread is truth, I think there has been more than enough reason to "hate the Game" in the last year without being a mindless lemming.

Sure, like:

powering his way into the creative meetings
banging the boss' daughter
refusing to make any of his opponents (with the exception of good buddy HBK) look good leading up to and in any title matches
banging the boss' daughter
having the title once worn by such greats as Ric Falir, Harley Race, Buddy Rogers, and David Arquette ( :-P ) handed to him on a silver platter
banging Katie Vick... and the boss' daughter

Assuming this is all true, then I respect the Rock's decision. I'd rather Booker get a legitimate push. So if holding off on it and giving Hurricane one instead will benefit all parties involved, then its a great idea.

It's been really hard for me to swallow the whole anti-HHH sentiment, but things do seem to get worse with every PPV. Based on the buildup to this match, if Booker doesn't take the title, I'll be convinced that HHH is cancer...

On a sidenote, Rock's doing a great job of putting over the Hurricane, which is why I like heel rock. Face rock can't be in a feud with anyone without making them look like a bitch (see Jericho, Angle and Big Show)
