I love the fact that these people use their First Amendment rights to speak out against their President overseas. If they are truly ashamed of Bush also being from their home state of Texas, then have the balls to make that statement somewhere in Texas. Oh yeah, they won't, because it would hurt their ticket and CD sales. If they truly believed in their statements, they would not be making them far away in another country where they presume the comments won't comeback to haunt them. Cowardly limousine liberals, that's what they are.

Alright, first the biggest war-groupie of them all, Germany, denies any support.

Now country music, which usually rolls over and sprouts its ass in the air for war, is starting to turn?!?

Man...I'm starting to feel bad for Bush...he can't even get the gimme's!

Celebrities are the stupid. They have absolutely no concept of reality.

None of these anti-war celebrities have even a basic understanding of foreign affairs. Martin Sheen and Mike Farrell shut up!!!

I got a good place for those 10,000 litres of anthrax--Paris, Berlin, Moscow--and then Hollywood!!!

Yeah!!! Not like the rest of us Rhode Scholar geniuses walking the mean streets with the "REAL" jobs, right?

Yeah, most of these "activist" celebs come off as raging douches, but I'm always very amused to see the "they don't know ANYTHING about current affairs!" accusation, like the "rest of us" are somehow more fully "qualified" than them to be speaking out and picking sides on the issues...

I think the most recent figure I saw was 54% in favor of war (and I don't remember if that was with or without UN approval - I think something like 2/3 folks back in January were against war w/out UN approval) - that's not really a 'large margin'... But these numbers vary from day to day so who knows...

I saw the Dixie Chicks on a Nascar broadcast earlier this year perform the national anthem which was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. To hear them pandering to the anti-Americans overseas makes me absolutely sick. Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it. That goes for all the left elitists and Hollywood types who speak just to be heard as well. Protesting is fine, and truly American- just give me a logical argument in favor of your point. All I seem to hear is a lot of catch phrases(NO WAR FOR OIL etc.) and name calling. Give me something legitimate to ponder, not just regurgitated garbage.

The only thing I do know, is that I don't know....

As Americans, I defend their rights to express their opinions, but they should at least have the sac to stand behind their opinions if they prove to be unpopular. It's bullshit back-pedaling to protect their careers.

Yea, retracting their statement was stupid.

The initial statement pissed off most of their fan base, and retracting it pissed off the people who agreed with their statement. They just shot themselves in both feet.

All together now......

Def Dave...you are incorrect. Too Cute was right on target when mentioning "the will of the people" in regards to the war. I believe a recent poll said a majority supported a war with Iraq only if they had UN backing (like 70%). But the key to that poll is the UN backing. I'm sure it's closer to 50-50 without UN backing.

Dixie Chicks and Daschle Release New Single

(2003-03-18) -- The Dixie Chicks have teamed with U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle, D-SD, on the new single "Ashamed and Saddened." The song, to be released only in parts of Europe, Russia and China, is expected to chart at No. 1 in its first week.

The lyrics are based on a recent comment by the Dixie Chicks and yesterday's remarks by the Senate minority leader.

"I'm saddened," Daschle told a union convention, "Saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we're now forced to war. Saddened that we have to give up one life because this president couldn't create the kind of diplomatic effort that was so critical for our country. But we will work, and we will do all we can to get through this crisis like we've gotten through so many."

A spokesman for Sen. Daschle said he was too saddened to talk about his part of the song.

"That's just the way the Senator is," said the spokesman. "He doesn't get mad. He doesn't get even. He gets saddened. There's no Senator more saddened than he is. And of course, along with the Dixie Chicks, he's also ashamed. That's what makes him a great American."

You cant keep statistics on these things because there are so many choices in one. You could be anti-war and pro-troops and pro-freedom of iraq and anti-oil, most people cant decide on one of them, because all people(well pretty much all) do not want to see innocent people dieing.

p.s. The Dixie Chicks are fucking horrendous.

Country fans/Southerners do because they think they're Unamerican now and it will hurt their record sales. They've stopped playing them on alot of the radio stations too.

Yeah, but the Dixie Chicks' incredibly insane sales rest in the fact that the majority of their buying audience are retarded, non-country "mainstream" fans...stupid hicks today are no more powerful than the stupid hicks who honestly thought they could stop the Beatles when Lennon's "bigger than Jesus" quote was taken the wrong way...

You can't stop bad music.

Everyone you meet
the children in the street are swaying
To the rhythm
there's something moving in them.
There's no place to hide
So why even try.
Can't you hear it coming you way it's here to stay
Music in our walk -
Music when we talk.
It's really something magic
to lose it would be tragic.
Can't you feel the sound
Moving through the ground
music makes the world go around.

You can't stop the music
nobody can stop the music.
Take the cold from the snow
tell the trees "don't grow"

Tell the wind "don't blow"
'cause it's easier no!
You can't stop the music
nobody can stop the music.
Take the spark from love
make the rain fall up

Cause that's easier to do.

Moving with the wind.
Since the world began the beat is gona get cha'

The beat is gonna get cha'
Music for the blues
For young dancing shoes
There's music in the way that we kiss
You can't resist moving through the trees

Buzzing with the bees

The sound is getting louder
the sound is getting louder.
Music when we play
when we kneel to pray

There's music in the sound of the wind.

You can't stop the music

Nobody can stop the music.
Take the heat from flame

Try not feeling pain

Though you try in vain

It's much easier no!
You can't stop the music

Nobody can stop the music.
Change the master plan

Take the hope from man

Cause that's easier to do.

On the radio
on every TV show

For each and every reason

In each and every season.
Music when we love
for the moon above

Music for the show of life that never ends.

Music on a plane
music on a train

Sailing on the ocean
music in the motion

Music in your car
at your local bar

There's music when you look at a star.

You can stop the music
nobody can stop the music.
Keep two lovers apart
mend a broken heart

Catch a falling star
that's much easier to do.

No! You can stop the music

Nobody can stop the music.
Tell the sun "Don't shine"

Stop old father time

'Cause that's easier to do.

You can stop the music
nobody can stop the music.
Take the cold from the snow
...
