I honestly feel one of the reason's he is pissed is because Jackie had something to do with the show. It's like he has it out for him since they had that whole contract dispute over how much Jackie should get paid. It was kinna Howard's thing to do it on the air a while ago, I'll give him that, but according to him he also invented radio, and talking. He should shut up and go away already,Does anybody really care what Howard Stern has to say anymore.

I'll give him credit: instead of simply whining about someone ripping him off, he's actually doing something about it this time.

I do agree that this time he's actually doing something about it, so I give him credit for that. By why stop at the "Are you hot?" contest?? He invented everything, I say go for it all, start sueing Survivor, the casts of all the Real Worlds, he obviously thought of Joe Millionaire and American Idol, sue them too.

"Liberal media" my ASS...

Sure..thats your media that gives Jim Moran a free pass for saying bad things about Jews, but jumps all over Trent Lott, and the same media that lets people who supported action in Iraq in 98 for the same reasons today off the hook for not supporting it today...and the same media where two homosexuals raped and killed a little boy and was reported basically nowhere....And i'm certain to always get a fair and balanced representation that doesnt slant to the left out of such fine national publications as Time, Newsweek, The Washington Post, the New York Times and The Los Angeles Times

Nah...there's no bias....who would be crazy enough to think that?

Trying to stop talking like a grizzled 1890's prospector..

TheMojoPin

Boy, they're sure defensive about that whole "Gore/internet" shtick...

I think you're confusing the editorials in these outlets with actual news. They're not. Those are people's opinions. And I read about the murder you're talking about (I'm assuming you mean Jesse Dirkhising) in the Washington Post, so I have NO idea what you're going on about in regards to THAT...

Dirkhising's case became a cause celebre with conservative pundits when it was first reported over 3 years ago. The pundits cried and moaned about how it didn't get as much coverage of the Matthew Shepard murder, which is a little confusing since the reasoning behind the reporting of the two cases are clearly very different.

Matthew Shepard was killed because he was gay, plain and simple. Dirkhising was killed because of two sick, twisted individuals who decided to end his life, but they didn't have an "agenda", nor is there any evidence whatsoever they they chose Jason based on who he was or what his sexual orientation was.

Like it or not, the two ARE very different. Unfortunately, we DO live in a world screwed up enough where a murder like Dirkhising's IS "just another murder." It's not right, and it's heartless, but I'm sorry, that's how it works. The men that killed him likely would have killed any little boy they would have been able to grab, whereas Shepard's killers made the very clear and concious decision to kill HIM because of who he was and what he was.

There IS a difference between a "regular" murder and a hate crime. Shepard was murdered because he was gay. Dirkhising was killed because he was there.

And if we're talking biases, where are the conservatives up in arms over, say, the coverage that something like the Columbine shooting gets, but then the hundreds (Maybe even thousands) of shootings, stabbings, rapes and acts of violence that occur in under-funded, inner city, "ghetto" schools each and every year that are virtually ignored by even local media outlets? Unfortunately, it looks like it's really only "ignored" if it's a story about "us" and not "them."

Face facts: both sides don't cover everything. The idea that Dirkhising's killing was "underplayed" because his killers were gay is ludicrious. People aren't living in a fantasy world where they think gay murderers don't exist. If that was the case, why did Andrew Cunanan get SO much overwhleming press as the very "GAY killer of Versace?"

The basic accusation levelled at the "liberal media" is one that is really applicable to ALL media outlets...and that is, quite simply, "go with the story that sells." Look at Fox News and try and tell me THEY don't try and get you to watch "the SHOCKING news story undercover revelation in-depth exclusive that might just keep YOU and your FAMILY from being KILLED!!!" just as much as the "other guys."

There IS a very obvious "sensational" slant. Media outlets go with what they think will sell the more papers/advertising/draw in the most viewers, and for better or for worse, the most sensational, "gory", weird and attention-grabbing stories tend to be those that the right loves to skewer as "liberal". Shepard's case was a sensationalistic one. Dirkhising's, unfortunately, in this jaded day and age, really was not.

Not to get off topic here, but Mojo, that's the biggest bunch of bullshit I've read in a while. Thanks for the laugh dude. We live in a country where a black person has never been convicted for a "hate crime" against a white person. Not once, NOT EVER! Now how is it possible the potential for hate crimes only swings from majority to minority and not vice versa. There is a bias, and you need only open your eyes and ears to experience. How many stories come with small qualifiers after them. "Police estimated X number of people at the anti-war/peace rally, but organizers really feel it was (X times ten)" That's subtle undermining and siding with minority opinions. I could go on, but what's the point,we'll probably never find common ground, but I thought that should not go undefended. You'll never see the Jesse Dirkhising, but we've already seen "Boys Don't Cry" and a Matthew Shepard TV movie.

As for Stern, I"m so happy he's become what he's fear the most, irrelevant. he gets grade Z guests on his hackfest radio show, and the titanic is taking on water. It's said, I was once such a fan, but the whole thing imploded. I can't wait for this "frivilous lawsuit"(as he used to hate) gets thrown out of court. The King is dead.

You're right. I'm already going for the big knife, just so it kills me extra good.

Of course, nevermind I was talking about accusations of MEDIA bias, not the justice system in general. That's a completely different kettle of fish. It still doesn't change my original idea that Shepard's death was pounced on by the media because it was blatantly a "hate crime" (Look, it's not my term, it's a legally designated type of crime. Deal with it). Dirkhising's murder was NOT a "hate crime", and unfortunately, the abduction and/or murder of children in this country has sadly become part of the everyday slew "everyday news" that includes literally THOUSANDS of violent crimes. Look how quickly Elizabeth Smart had faded from the news in the months before she was found...everyone just basically assumed she was dead and that was that. I'm not saying that this is "good"...it's a pretty shitty state of affairs! But sadly, that's how the media works these days...the jump on what they think will "sell." It's not about being "liberal"...it's about the money and the ratings. Period. And that's far, FAR worse. THAT'S the very, very obvious and damaging media bias that exists.

And to tell the truth, I'm sick of these conservative pundits jumping on certain cases and essentially insulting those who died by trying to latch it onto a completely SEPERATE senseless crime. The underlying message seems to be , "oh, if a black/gay/minority person kills a white person, it MUST be a hate crime," without any notion as to the actual motive and reasonings behind the killings. Of COURSE hate crimes go both ways...but it's not even going to be close in comparative statistics! Blacks, gays, etc. are in the MINORITY in this country...of course more hate crimes are going to be committed against them instead of BY them. Of COURSE minorities are going to commit hate crimes...but to seemingly assume that somehow it's going to be equal or even greater than what the majority inflicts on a minority is just absurd and the most twisted case of "wishful thinking" I've ever heard of.

You'll never see the Jesse Dirkhising, but we've already seen "Boys Don't Cry" and a Matthew Shepard TV movie.

"Boys Don't Cry" deals with a completely seperate incident from Matthew Shepard's murder. It's even a completely different person that was murdered! Wow, way to trivialize things even further. It's not enough to basically put the murder of children in some kind of sick "competition" with each other to see which is "worse" or "more tragic" or "more deserving of our attention", huh?

This is has gone off into a REALLY ugly tangent. I've said my piece and I'm punching right on out.

I assume all proceeds will be going to fight AIDS in Africa.

Seriously, though, he could have a case since the producer used to work on Stern's show.
