NO ONE "has it coming" there Dirty Harry.

We should NEVER rejoice in the death of people, even if we disagree with them.

I will say that if you're in an area of the world that you KNOW is prone to attacks and other danger, you shouldn't be surprised if something bad happens to you.

Basically, she was a fucking moron.

The bulldozers only stop here in America, where the entire country is made up of pussies, and no one would have the balls to run someone over like that, especially cause they know they'd get sued by the family.

That wasn't America. She was an idiot.

Does anyone know if the Israeli's were using American made bulldozers? That'd be a weird twist of irony if it was.

Moe is right though...no one deserves death in such ways. One of the only items in religion I kinda go along with is to not judge others.....but sadly that's the only notion in religion that religious leaders and followers don't usually hold too.

I feel no pity for the truly stupid. And before you accuse me of being a "hard christian right winger" I also feel no pity for those killed or taken hostage in foreign countries while on 'missions' to spread the 'christian gospel'. That to me is just as offensive as muslims calling non-muslims 'infidels'. So many of these religions(which I refuse to capitalize) have such noisy groups declaring "MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY" and maybe I'm simple, but I believe that ones religion should be a personal thing, and too abstract for any mortal to claim to know god's will...

Bullshit.

I'm sick to death of Israel getting a "free pass" with everything, and I doubt this will be any different. And this isn't a case of me picking the Palestinians "over" Israel, because they're douchebags as well.

Again, it's like two assholes arguing over who gets to be the biggest, stinkiest asshole. I can't stand either side at this point.

Would the pictures of her burning the American flag with her palestinian buddies change your mind. Would the pictures of her at Palestinian hate rallies against Israel have an impact?

Dopey woman puts herself in a war zone as a human shield. No loss. In fact, I hope all the human shields go to Iraq immediately so we can be sure to hit them with specially lethal bombs.

EDIT: It's funny how we are now inundated with crying friends, and the devasted parents who raised the late, unlamented Ms. Corrie (unlamented by people with morals, that
is). For a truer picture of who she was, take a look at the following photo of
Ms. Corrie burning an American flag among smiling Palestinians:
http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/weblog.php

Her face is the face of a hate-filled fanatic.

Nevertheless, her death was an accident. If you jump in front of a bulldozer to
protect terrorists, with or without an orange jacket, you take a chance you
might be bulldozed. She did, and she was.

I think I'll save my tears and appreciate the comic irony.

<font color=purple>You know, I was watching the news after Bush' speech tonight. In the background they had a map of the middle east. And it struck me how there are all these huge arab countries, and right there in the middle of them is this dot they call Israel.

You could barely make it out until they zoomed in on Egypt. And there she was, but a speck. Surrounded by all these nations, most of them 50 to 100 times her size, and all of them her sworn enemy.

All but Egypt, with whom Israel made a lasting peace for about 25 years now.

Regardless of who you can or can't stand, peace is there for the Palestinians to take. Just as it was for the Egyptians. You can't fault Israel if they refuse to take it.

Well, I guess YOU can. But reasonable people can't.

Much like this country, Israel isn't always right. No, not always. Just way more often than the rest of the world!

Gary, fundamentalists and extremists exist on both sides which will never be satisfied with just a peace resolution unless their side has the entire land and control of it. Including Jerusalem. Saying one side is more in the right then the other is not true. Both sides have their problems.

Let's try and keep some perspective here. I'm not going to get into the hows and whys of what is happening in Israel, but let's be honest: the US would never have put up with what Israel has suffered with for so long. They have the right to exist in peace, just as the Palestinians do. Israel is fighting for it's survival in a sea of enemies, it's citizens living in constant fear of the weekly suicide bombings. They have made many many mistakes, very true. Some even horrible. That aside, this girl (from my home state no less) was misguided and wrong trying to prevent the Israeli military from destroying a terrorist's house (which I will assume it was per Israeli policy). She is neither hero or martyr; only dead.

<img src=http://i-debut.org/alterego_j/images/violin.jpg>

Guess what? I don't have to give a shit about Israel OR Palestine. It's this kind of horseshit finger-pointing, "nuh-HUH, he hit me FIRST" from BOTH sides that's not going to get anyone anywhere. I feel pity for the Israeli people for the constant danger they live in every day, and because they're lead by dick-waving, unblinking morons. At the end of the day, in MY book, Israel is no better than Palestine, and vice-versa. I'm just sick of having to try and pick sides in a neverending clusterfuck that EVERYONE is willingly participating in.

It may not be popular, but if HK can openly preach his anti-Arab hatred, I can simply be fed up with Israel. I have nothing against the people themselves, but godDAMN if their government doesn't frustrate me to no end...

<font color=purple>Yes, you do.

I feel pity for the Israeli people for the constant danger they live in every day

See, you do give a shit. Or is that just because I said you have to? Either way, good for you.

they're lead by dick-waving, unblinking morons.

a) I've never seen him wave his or any other dick, and b) living as they do, he can't afford to blink. If you blink, you're dead.

At the end of the day, in MY book, Israel is no better than Palestine, and vice-versa.

See, this is basically the crust of our disagreement. I'll never fathom how you can compare the two.

One is a free and open democracy, the other's filled with people who danced in the streets on 9/11.

One offers land for peace, the other serves as a farm team for terrorist.

One allows people who call for her very demise to serve in its parliment, the other blows up buses filled with school children.

If the picture I'm painting sounds one sided, it's because it is one sided.

And I know that's what ruffles your feathers most of all. That, and it's cool to hate Israel in an anti-authority, fuck-the-establishment kind of way.

But that doesn't change a basic truth; the Palestinians act, Israel reacts, and so it goes.

Comparing the two is akin to comparing us to the taliban. Or a crook to a cop. Bush to Saddam. Silera to Coco.

It may not be popular, but if HK can openly preach his anti-Arab hatred, I can simply be fed up with Israel.

Ahhhhh, o'kay, that makes sense. And if Moe can love bacon, then I can hate Chris Tucker.

I have nothing against the people themselves, but godDAMN if their government doesn't frustrate me to no end...

It's only because I have some respect for you, that I ask this in the hopes of receiving an honest answer. But why?

I'm with Wyze and Horde King on this one. The question is how far was she willing to go in her protest? Why not move once you realize this is getting way too close for comfort? Who's to say she wouldn't be the next U.S. citizen (John Walker Lindh) to take up arms against her own country (that we know of)? Oh yah, women have no rights in that part of the world let alone the ability to join their armies! Except for the likes of Israel of course. Seems that this post is one sided too.

Perhaps someone with a better grasp of the region's history could enlighten us on a bit of information I came across recently. It seems that the Palestinians were offered a huge amount of land back many years ago in return for a smaller Israel then we know today. It turns out they didn't even dwell on it and chose an all-out war with the aid of the whole region, including Egypt at the time. Still, this small determined nation and its people won in spite of incredible odds. As I see it, nothing but the absolute destruction of the Jewish state will suffice for the muslim extremeist and the whole religion for that matter. These people act as if they are held back by US capitalism, yet most of the wealth is within a few families. They should rebel against their own as opposed to the outside.

Gary, Spoon, etc...

Most of the people in Israel and Palestine are peaceful and want peace. Most of the people also aren't as religious as most think they are, but it's the fundamentalists and extremists on both sides which are causing all the problems. And neither party is willing or able to stop them from continuing the problems they cause. Terrorists from the Palestinian side and Israel's aggressive government clash on constant issues. And as someone else previously stated, at this point, it is tit-for-tat between the two sides. And you mention 9-11? Can you blame Palestinians for hating the US when its US military weapons being used upon them. I don't hear any US citizens complaining when Palestinian civilians are killed in raids and bombings by Israel. It's no better then the bombings the terrorists do either. No one is in the right. Also, $5 Billion in aid is a bit excessive for a nation the size of Rhode Island...don't you think?

Here's my view of Palestine:

Remember in school, when a few kids were being assholes, and the teacher punished the whole class because of it?

well, let's see...

1) Palestinians continue to send suicide bombers to kill Israeli citizens, on modes of transportation, at markets, in schools.

2)Obviously suicide bombers are funded by groups of other palestinians, because nobody finds all the materials, builds a bomb, straps it to his chest, and blows himself up... and if that's what was happening, it wouldn't happen so often...

3) despite Israilei retalliation, Arafat continues to do nothing, he makes no effort to stop, punish, detain, even discourage suicide bombings, he essentially says, "We've been naughty and it won't happen again..." (boom)

so we have individuals, large groups, and the government behind suicide bombings, and you know what? They ruin it for everyone else, Wipe 'em out. Bulldoze the west bank into the sea, because they've lost the Darwin game at this point....

It's only because I have some respect for you, that I ask this in the hopes of receiving an honest answer. But why?

Well, let me be fair and say that I am infinitely frustrated by BOTH governments, as I feel neither really fully goes to the lengths needed to protect its own people. The Palestinian government lives in this blatant cloud of denial where they're practically pretending that suicide bombings don't even exist...and if they DO acknowledge them, it's at the furthest arm's length possible, even though the people with the best ability to crack down on the bombings are those in the Palestinian government themselves, yet they very willingly choose NOT to.

As much as the Israeli government has basically gone out of their way to dismantle everything Rabin was able to establish, Yasser Arafat is THE most manipulative member of this back-and-forth, and it drives me nuts that he's still in power. As long as he's there, he's going to betray what's best for the majority of Palestinians and continue catering to the extremist minority that's NEVER going to be satisified until Israel is erradicated. He's a liar, he doesn't represent the best of his people, and he needs to be gone, ASAP.

But Palestine's fault and blame in all of this is so obvious...Israel's frustrates me because it's so much more subtle. I don't condemn them for retaliation in principle, because you NEED to fight to survive. But the numbers are so skewed that it can't help but perpetuate the cycle of violence. A Palestinian kills, say 5 Israelis...that usally means 20-40 Palestinians will end up dead a few days later. It just doesn't work, especially since odds are you aren't "getting" the people that really need to be "gotten". If Israel is insistent about remaining hardline, they need to set their borders and lock them off. Seal themselves in for the time being. For how long? I have no idea...could be years...could be decades. But they need to push out the Palestinians that live there as basically second-class citizens in what amount to glorified refugee camps. Once these people are deprived of their Israeli-rooted jobs, and the relative stability of being able to live in Israel period, I'd think that it wouldn't take much prodding for them to dispose of Arafat...through election or other more "immediate" means.

Look, I don't have to support every one of Israel's actions and decisions. The blanket, no-questioning neo-"patriotism" that's sweeping this country does NOT apply to them. They CAN go too far and be too stubborn for their own good. Just because they're not as stubborn or two-faced as Arafat doesn't always automatically put them in the "right". It doesn't help the situation at all even if you're being less of a prick than the SUPER-prick that lives next to you. A prick is still a prick. And this incident with the girl just cheesed me off. Regardless of how stupid I think her actions were and how she was supporting the Palestinians in all the wrong ways possible, she was killed very heartlessly while engaging in a very non-violent form of protest, and it's an ugly, brutal thing and I DON'T have to like it.

Basically it just confounds me that Israel seems to think that somehow pulling the Palestinians closer (By allowing them to resettle within Israel's borders and still retain jobs in Israel) while at the same time pushing them away with over-zealous retaliation is going to "work". It just perpetuates the violence and gives the meandering politicians that run Israel something else to wag their fingers and sake their heads at.

Close the borders. Make your people safe. That should be their ONLY concern. At this point they have no reason to cater to lying, deceitful Palestinian leaders. Cut 'em off.

But the implication often seems to be that since I often disagree with Israel, I must "support" or "favor" Palestine. That's about as far from the truth as possible. It's as over-reactionary as the "hawks" in this country who accuse the anti-war faction of "loving" Saddam.

And Gary, c'mon, I
