Aqualung?...Jethro Tull was a French band? Bastards!
Boycott Black Bush?...Annie DiFranco wouldn't.
I can't see Ferrall boycotting Jameson. Sorry.
Motel 6? Let them leave the light on for me, so I can sack the French loving bastard that gets a room there.

Fina Oil (billions invested in Iraqi oil fields)

...and that's why the French are not budging...that and the weapons selling.

Why the hell are we so pissed at the French? It's not the job of our allies to be yes men. If they disagree with what we are doing, that doesn't mean we need to go ape shit. Besides, they are hardly the only country against this war.

I've seen this argument used a lot lately from anti-war activisits and - dare I say it - somewhat left-leaning people. I dislike this argument because for so many people, it's entirely hypocritical. They're more than happy to boycott right-wing causes, religious causes, etc. And they have their own, usually valid reasons for doing so. But God forbid some of us turn around and do the same thing.

Boycotts are used by everyone as a wonderfully peaceful, non-violent means of voicing one's protest.

I choose to express my displeasure with the French by boycotting their goods. Which is better - me refusing to buy their products, or going out and doing wrong shit like the people who are heckling that French golfer?

Besides, they are hardly the only country against this war.

No, they aren't - but they're the country doing the most to oppose us, and their reasons for doing so are incredibly selfish and self-serving, and entirely more sinister than anyone else.

I don't boycott anything.. too much effort. In the modern political climate, today's enemy turns out to be tomorrow's friend more often than you'd think.

The French haven't been allies in years.
