I've had Aetna, Empire Blue Cross, and HIP, they will also pay for Viagra and abortions, but not for pills.

It's fucking mind boggling.

Funk that indeed.

I truly believe that Health Insurance companies are not here to help us...But reather to fuck us all over. (they fuck women more than men)

But maybe if I actually had health insurance I would be a happier man.

i pulled this off of our Union Website:

Guild Pursues Contraceptive Equity

Encouraged by the EEOC complaint filed by three female Dow Jones employees over contraceptive coverage, and the success of a grievance over a similar matter filed by the Wire Service Guild at the Associated Press, The Newspaper Guild president Linda Foley has announced that TNG "is on the lookout" for employers whose medical plans either do not cover prescription contraceptives, or require a physician's finding of medical necessity.
In today's Editor & Publisher Online, Foley says, "We just feel that it's a matter of fairness and non-discrimination. It's just ludicrous that these health plans would pay for Viagra and turn around and (not) cover contraceptives."

We had this same issue at Dow Jones and it got overturned and now they will pay for Contraceptives. I'm looking for the article that states so...

here's another article:

Coalition Of Labor Union Women: Fight For Contraceptive Issues

Bolstered by a recent federal agency decision requiring fairness in prescription coverage for contraceptives, as well as an AFL-CIO resolution, the Coalition of Labor Union Women is helping working families get expanded health care coverage. Two years ago, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled that if companies provide prescription coverage, they are not allowed to discriminate against women by not providing coverage for birth control. A June 2001 federal district court decision reinforced the EEOC's decree. In December, delegates to the 2001 AFL-CIO convention passed a resolution supporting contraceptive equity. Union leaders are using these tools to ensure working women have the health care they need and deserve, combing through existing contracts and joint union-industry health plans to correct inequities. Temple University in Philadelphia recently extended contraceptive coverage to employees who have prescription drug coverage, including members of AFSCME Local 1723, AFT Local 4531, building trades members and others. For more information and to download a contraceptive equity kit, click on www.cluw.org/contraceptive.html.

The insurance company is saying fuck for a long time (with viagra), with no birth control...then you can an abortion. Basically, they asking you to expect everything full circle. After you fuck and have the abortion, they will fuck you and take your money away.

Contraceptive Settlement Announced

IAPE is thrilled to announce that a settlement was reached Wednesday between Dow Jones and three IAPE members who filed discrimination charges with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Dow Jones in April for failing to provide contraceptive coverage in all of its plans. As a result, ALL Dow Jones employees, their spouses and dependents now have coverage (effective immediately) for prescription contraceptives, devices and services under all of the company's health plans. The agreement gives beneficiaries nearly two years of retroactive reimbursement for previously uncovered expenses. Employees have until Feb. 28, 2003 to apply for the reimbursement.

It's a tremedous issue as many insurance companies and or employers do not provide coverage for birth control pills.

If you want to get involved in this issue visit Planned Parenthood for some information and a few very quick things you can do.

Here's a link to the relevant page.
