Sorry, my thoughts would be biased because I know that we are not targeting Iraqi innocents at all, unlike the terrorists, who were and are trying to kill everything that is American or American-affiliated. I can only hope that they know we are not attacking the Iraqi people.

What TheJays said. It's not even comparable, because the US is going to the greatest lengths possible to NOT target civilians. Over 3,000 missions flown thus far, and the the amount of civilians killed is still in the single digits and the the number of wounded is only around 400-500. Has a more precise, efficient war been fought? Would any other nation go to these extremes to protect the people who might be on the other end of the bombs being dropped and the missiles being launched? I think not. I am opposed to the war itself, but I fully support the way it is currently being fought.

The people
of Iraq have to put up with that fear and anxiety now
on a daily basis.

They had to do that before we invaded.

This is the same thing that they told us in 91' instead
they called it "smart bombs". Years later we find out
those "smart bombs" caused more death and
destruction than we were originally told. Don't believe
everything the TV tells you. It is in the Dept. of
Defense's best interest to tell you everything you want
to hear. I don't care if it's a so-called precision attack.
If you are living somewhere where explosions are
going off all around you it is pretty agonizing I'm sure.
Don't kid yourself into believing that Iraqis feel safe
that it is the Americans that are looking out for their
best interest and safety.

No kidding.

It's this kind of nonsensical, "ALL war is BAD! Down with WAR!" argument that basically degrades what little (If any) credibility the anti-war contingent has.

Look, the war is in full swing. It's not going to stop. Shift your priorities and focus on making sure that our actions AFTER the war are in everyone's best interests. THAT'S how you can do the most good at this point. Dwelling on what's already happened accomplishes NOTHING.

So I guess letting the Iraqi people to "just take it like a champs" when Saddam feels like torturing and rapping the women of IRAQ while the iraqi Men in the families get thrown into wood chippers. Is a good thing?

HBox couldn't be more right on with the post on having to fear already. Let's be honest, the "innocent" in this conflict have some prior warning as to the pending danger, which in turn isn't aimed at them. I for one saw many images of villagers everywhere but the Iraqi capital celebrating the arrival of the US, British and Ausie soldiers. The exception seems to be those who were on the payroll of the current regime and most of those surrender and are still treated very humanely. Billions of dollars have been siezed of this regimes finances, yet 90% of the country starve. I believe those that somehow find a way to survive (amazing feat I know) will be much better off in a country that will surface after the conflict.
And isn't it peculiar that this easy to deal with (diplomatically) nation has fired banned missles at Kuwait during this conflict, not to mention has invaded multiple times. Or the fact that he uses lethal gas on his own people.

Read up people. The following post from another thread applies here. It goes as follows:
[quote]from chronwatch.com

You asked why I support the war. You wanted to understand why now, and why with Iraq rather than other, equally noxious, tyrants. In this letter, I'll try to cover what this war is about and what it isn't about.

This isn't a war about American blood for Iraqi oil. The United States and Great Britain have maintained sanctions on Iraqi oil since 1991 in the face of European and Asian opposition. If we had wanted Iraqi oil, as our oil companies have lobbied for years, we could have simply lifted sanctions and bought it.

It is a war brought about by blood for oil, however. One of the reasons Iraq poses a threat is because of its oil revenues and what they have bought and can buy. In the hands of a megalomaniacal dictator, oil revenues purchased the technology, built the infrastructure, and produced biological weapons like anthrax and smallpox and chemical weapons like VX nerve agent and mustard gas. There is blood for oil here but it is on the hands of the French and Germans who sold Saddam Hussein the technology and equipment so he could gas thousands of his own Kurdish citizens. There is blood for oil, the blood of thousands of Iranians, Kuwaitis, and Iraqi Shia Moslems who died under the treads of Hussein's tanks, and armored personnel carriers or who were machine-gunned or blown apart by attack helicopters. This blood is on the hands of the Russians and Chinese who sold him these things. To know Hussein, his methods, and goals, and to build a nuclear reactor for him, as the French did at Osirik, makes you his accomplice not just a trading partner.

He invaded Iran. He invaded Kuwait. He gassed Iranians. He gassed Kurds. On retreating from Kuwait, his army set fire to every oil well they could reach creating the greatest ecological disaster in Mid-East history. He will use every weapon in his arsenal. When he develops atomic weapons, he will use them. If he had atomic weapons now, he would use them on our troops. If we wait until he obtains them, he will use them on our troops and on his neighbors. This war is happening now, specifically because he is close to developing them. He has the means and the motive, and all he lacks is time. We cannot await this inevitability.

For all its dictatorial dysfunction, does the Middle East deserve to be under the nuclear thumb of one murdering tyrant? Do we wait for the illicit transfer of a backpack nuke to a terrorist organization who walks it into Los Angeles or New York or on a container ship coming into Oakland? Containment only works with rational governments and leaders who pay the price for their aggression. It doesn't work with stateless, suicidal Islamofacist terrorists.

This is not a threat you can see or touch now. This is frustrating for most Americans. But when you can see it or touch it, it will be too late to act. A new era was ushered in by the attacks of September 11, 2001. As you know, my wife was in Manhattan on 9/11 and watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center. She smelled the ozone and dust in the air, wondering if chemical or biological weapons were there as well. Even now, we have friends who will not go into Manhattan. How many other attacks in how many other cities must we endure? Is this the type of world we are consigned to live in? Do you want to live in a world like this? Do you want your children to live in a world like this?

Some say that North Korea is a more immediate threat. Is their motive to face one threat or avoid facing another? North Korea is an isolated, bankrupt ghost of Stalinism whose people are reducing to eating tree bark to stay alive. They will soon collapse on their own.

Some say that we must have the sanction of the United Nations. Where were these people during the Yugoslavian war, the Haitian intervention, or the Somalia debacle? Their vision ends at America's shores. Their signs and chants offer no viable alternative. They linger on hatred of the U.S. president because their

YOUR flag? I though if I bothered to figure it out in another thread, I'd have known you were a citizen? You speak as though you're NOT part of our county, but you said you're a citizen. so it's YOUR flag to brilliant. If it's such a bad flag, go burn it in another country.

You make me so sick London keep saying enlist I'll keep saying instead of pro-testing join the Red Cross or become Human Shield. You will never do that. Seriously please go to a local public place and start saying your Anti-American statements you won't because you really don't believe in what your saying. I would glady meet you at your house and have a discussion about this war please send me your address . I agree in free speech but you go to far calling us Nazi's and do you really think we won't finish our job in Iraq. The Iraqi military is lucky we are holding back but that will soon change with the barbaric execution of our soldiers in custody and the fact they pretended to surrender but it was all a ambush. Hell will be unleashed!!! You are a coward with no balls who could never understand how this country stays free and how we got so free. May I see you in Hell.

Because this is what the Nazi youth did.

I know this isn't Usenet, but I invoke Godwin's Law:

Godwin's Law: As a Usenet discussion grows
longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis
or Hitler approaches one. There is a tradition in many
groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and
whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost
whatever argument was in progress.
