Watching the "bonus" footage of Raw last night proves again that the roster spit needs to be ended.

The plan was to have 2 exclusive divisions of the WWE, but showing a 1/2 hour of Smackdown programming on Raw makes my point more convincing. The roster split has to go down as one of the worst ideas along with The XFL, World Bodybuilding Federation and flops such as Bastion Boogar

Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

I don't think the roster split is a bad idea.

The problem is:

a) It was done too late - if it had been done at the time of the WCW / ECW "invasion", maybe it would have meant something, and there would have at least have been the sense of real competition (do some of the fantasy booking in your head - imagine one show getting the WCW / ECW guys, plus a few WWF(E) "defectors", and other show being solid WWE guys.....you could have played the two shows / rosters against each other for MONTHS).
b) Poor creative development, leading the bookers to have stagnant storylines and character (how many actual, breakout stars has the WWE created since the split? I can name ONE).
c) Injuries which have shelved much of their name talent, which would not be such a horrible blow to the company, except we're right back at b) again.

Frankly, I would not want the split to end, because I don't want to see TWICE the HHH or Undertaker on my TV every week. There's at least the illusion of diversity now.

I will give you this, though - having brand-only PPVs is a fucking insane move which will cost them dearly. No one is going to want to pay 35 bucks a month to see Jeff Hardy wrestle Rodney Mack on PPV.

Let us not forget some of the other stellar ideas like The Goon, Friar Ferguson, Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz, Big Bully Busick, and Ludvig Borga.

I think it was done because Smackdown was preempted last week in major cities and those were the 2 main highlights from the show

why is it that Vince or Bischoff always seem to threaten to have Stone Cold arrested, it's getting boring that Austin has been handled the same way for years

That "bonus coverage" was a huge pile of dog shit. Once again I can't really top what Se7en has just said because I completly agree with all of it.

I think that bonus footage was there because most of the country didn't get smackdown last week because of war coverage. It was there to make sure that their featured match for their biggest pay per view of the year gets the exposure it needs.

yeah they had to do it so hogan-vince could be hyped. And i do like the concept of brand only ppv's because it might force them to push the littler guys and maybe jeff hardy won't have to be used as an ass puppet. Though scrapping KOTR is a huge mistake. They should've had 8 guys from each roster compete and eventually a RAW guy would go up against a Smackdown guy. I think that would be a good idea. And i would like the anticipation of seeing RAW and Smackdown guys being in the Royal Rumble after they were apart for so long. This also a good way to keep ideas fresh. When the brand extension ends (I give it 12-14 months) RVD and Rey Mysterio will be a fresh match, Guerrero and RVD would seem new, and Benoit and Jericho could be used again. I see it as a year and a half of agony for a couple of years of good feuds.

oh and i still can't believe they used ludvig borga to end tatanka's winning streak, which by the way was longer than goldberg's. It was like having David Arquette go over Jeff Jarrett.....oh yeah

Love the idea of the split being with the two divisions....and having invasions @ the other companies pay per views...that would have been hot. There is nothing more of ratings getter than a hot group like now or Degeneration X...they gotta bring something like that back or start something like that up. Now, I believe merging them would make no sense as there are just too many wrestlers to go around.

i've said the roster split is an awful idea about a million times.i would just group all the good talent on one show once a week.fire all the filler garbage such as kane, the dudleys,a-train,and big show.i would also drop about half of the ppv's per year.
