America is a place where we have the right to voice our own opinions. We have the 1st ammendment. However, these anti war protesters who have been causing havoc and dismay by stopping traffic in San Francisco, and vandalizing is not acting in a peaceful manner.

Tomorrow these protesters plan to interfere during the morning commute in NYC, which may cause people who actually are productive members of society to be late for work or go out of their normal ways just to get to the office.

Meanwhile most of these protesters are unshaven (both male and female) radicals who take advantage of their freedoms, or spoiled rich kids.

Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

I have a question. Are protestors allowed to gather on private property if they do not have the permission of the property owners?

They're all a bunch of morons.

If that makes you feel better, or that you feel you are superior because of your assumptions, then go ahead and keep believing them.

Not that I'm supporting what they are doing, it's just that this ridiculous stereotyping is getting out of hand.

Rockefellar Plaza is private property, and I would assume once protestors started gathering there, they would be arrested immediatly.

Of course not.

But don't tell them.

Most of them need a hard lesson.

In an extremely (and I CAN'T emphsize that enough with what I'm about to say) abstract kind of way, what these protestors are doing is kinda like what the terrorists do. They take their frustrations with the government and take it out on the people. People going to work tomorrow have nothing to do with this military action, a lot even oppose it, but that is who the protestors are affecting most. What the hell does pissing off a bunch of commuters do for your cause? Get you on the news at the cost of alienating the very people you need for support. I wish these people would have some damn common sense. I wouldn't be surprised, if the demonstration gets big enough, that someone dies tomorrow by getting run over.

They were laying across 5th Ave this morning.

1010 wins reporter asked one of them why they were lying in the street

protestor: "to stop murder on the other side of the globe"

reporter: "how is lying in the street and messing up the morning commute going to stop murder on the other side of the globe"

protestor: "........ ........ ........ The Government is crazy nothing can stop them"

Sounds like an intelligent lot.

The protestors were also yelling "seig heil" at mounted police officers.

This just annoys me. I should run a course in "protesting do's and don'ts"

1: don't piss off the cops. Pepper spray hurts, and no one will sympathize with you. (when i go to a protest with police, the first thing i do is say hello to a few officers so they know that i'm not trouble (even if they don't respond) and stay near them
2: if you go to an illegal protest, expect to be arrested. don't complain, and don't resist. (even at an illegal one, the police will only arrest you if you cause trouble, but if you go their fatalistally, then you will have no reason to resist)
3: don't talk to the media!!!!!!!!!! (they will edit what you say to fit whatever slant they choose)
4: don't destroy public property. Civil disobediece does not give you license to riot.
5: use signs, chants, and leaflets. they are harder for the media to distort.

more to come . . .

I said this once before. I don't mind people protesting. It's just when they get out of hand in our big cities like N.Y, L.A. Chicago.. they take the police away from their regular duties, PROTECTING THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THE PUBLIC.
Another thing, just like the guy above me said and what i said in another post.
Get arrested. Yell at the cops hold up posters on a sidewalk just don't assult anyone, especially the police.
That's why people protest. To get arrested for what they believe in.
IT'S GONNA TAKE SOME COPS CRACKING SOME SKULL TO OPEN THESE NEO-HIPPIES MINDS.....NO PUN INTENDED

PRAY FOR THE BRAVE ONES!!!!

Easy way to stop this if someone is blocking the entrance to an establishment you want to go in. Move them. They seem to have given up their ability to be constructive members of society so treat them as the garbage they are. Bottom line i will not be held back from a destination by the ignorant masses who think they know better

War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The most ironic thing about anti-war protests is the combative nature of thier gatherings, usually degenerating into violence on the streets.

Hmm...anti-war protests...violent, well-organized, tactically effective...sounds a lot like....

WAR.

But, but, but, didn't you know it's the cops that are starting all the violence. The protestors are completely innocent.

Exactly, because a protester would NEVER cross the line from civil disobedience into criminal disobedience.

Here's the deal: I'll give 20 bucks to anyone in the NYC area who I see Hogan-leg-drop one of these guys. But I gotta see it on TV.

Just kidding I would be as disruptive as them then.

These people have the right to protest PEACEFULLY.

It seems that many people just don't understand this. I've seen all this footage of protests getting broken up after people have stopped traffic, laid down on public sidewalks, etc.

As the cops hauled them away they would just scream "I have the right to free speech!"

a chance to relive what those times were like
but the problem is there is no heart in it
no brains being used and this is the big one
IT IS NOT THE 60's the world is a diff place than 40 years ago why cant they just put there attention to the save the sea lions

It's amazing, just watching everyone on both sides get more and more stupid by the minute...

We've all obviously lost our minds through this war, so the government got what they want. We've become "Useful Idiots," as the Soviets put it...

that's because when they signed on they probably didn't realize that civil disobedience usually involves being arrested.

Ex 60s protestors are such bums.
All they did was get more and more American troops killed in Vietnam.
I told my mom that and she slapped me, being that she did a little protesting herself back then.

Although I'm pretty sure you didnt mean to equate Dr King's work and ideals with the bastardized protests we've seen the past month or so, it still made me shudder to see his name used to support them. And Shecky's right; as I've mentioned in other threads, I'd give a weeks pay to go back to doing police work. I'm tired of being a babysitter for these people. The war's on, and because of it, youll get your peace.

I agree Chris Dr. King was fighting for his people's equality in the at the time repressive South. I would imagine the Jim Crowe laws would be overturned pretty quickly today.

These current protesters are taking up valuable time from the NYC police. Believe me I live here, there are tons of cops who should be looking out for Fundamentalist Terrorists instead of babysitting those morons on the street. I mean I know they were educated by tenured college professors who fed them a steady diet of rehashed 60's radicalism which is not relevant today.
I know some will disagree in principal, but you can't disagree with limited police resources being wasted on babysitting. I guess they feel their little protest is more important than our collective safety- but I disagree.

Saw this tonight http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,82395,00.html. These protesters are stepping over the line in many places now, and if some kids throw rocks at me, well...it's gonna suck to be them.
