It's hard being a president that doesn't talk out of both sides of his mouth, doesn't have time to get bj's from interns, doesn't go to Mcdonalds, does not watch tv, and Bush likes to run every day to stay in shape.

Yeah. You really got to concentrate to do THIS GOOD a job of making the entire world hate us, running the economy in the ground, and making his rich friends even richer while throwing what amount to table scraps to the rest of us. Oh, and lets not forget the country hasn't been this divided since Vietnam.

But at least he isn't blowing interns. THANK GOD!

I can't remember the world ever hating us this much. Its not completely justified, but the Bush Administration makes little to no effort at diplomacy.

And don't even bring up the months at the UN; We were going to Iraq no metter what happened at the UN. It was a PR move to show that we are "trying" and an ultimately futile attempt to get allies to go in with us, not "support" us.

If 11.7% of wage earners weren't living in poverty, then I wouldn't mind.

Tax cuts benefit the majority of tax payers, who happen to be "rich".

Yea, those 144+ months we spent in the UN trying to get a peaceful end to this whole thing was such a selfish PR move for the US.

Well then, let's be equally fair: the U.N. intended to fuck us over (and have been fucking up in relation to Iraq) since day one.

Bah, I hate these joke threads which suddenly degenerate into "serious" threads.

Oh yeah. I remember daily UN updates on how inspections were going for the last 12 years. And its not like we nearly went to war without even going to the UN. And I didn't say it was selfish. My point was that it is my opinion that we were going to war no matter what happened in the UN. Iraq was only on our agenda starting with Bush's speech in the UN in September.

The UN inspectors dismantled Iraq's nuclear program! You seem to be forgetting that small item.

The US danced in front of the UN in order to get some support which didn't happen. All throughout the 'US diplomatic solution via the UN', the we're amassing troops, military and such as well as making deals and gaining access in Middle Eastern nations. The US's attempt of diplomatic, peaceful resolution to the situation was a joke.

JAYS--- keep in mind the percentage of the money the rich have.
Bush has worked it out so that those in roughly the top two percent, who have roughly 40% of the money, now pay roughly 35 or 36% of the taxes.
As the centerpiece of Bush's "economic stimulus plan", his tax cuts have stimulated doodley squat.
Given Dumbya's previous dismal performance in the oil business, this is to be expected.

No, Israel dismantled Iraq's Nuclear program in th 80's

would insult your own intelligence by trying to suggest
otherwise.

getting back to the eyebrows (sort of): Bush is known for
making sure he gets to bed early, so someone recently
asked Powell how it felt knowing that, despite the current
chaos, Bush still sleeps like a baby at night. Powell replied
that he too sleeps like a baby, waking up kicking and
screaming every two hours.

Wake up Moe and smell reality. Do you seriously believe a single bombing ended an entire nuclear program over 20 yrs ago?

Read this...it's from a CIA report from October 2002. There's no mention whatsoever of Israeli bombings dismantling Iraq's nuclear program. Israel may have temporarily halted or slowed it down when they bombed in the early 80's....but that is extremely far fetched to think it was Israel that dismantled their program up to this point in time. It was the UN Inspections and Disarmament programs that dismantled Iraq's nuclear program.

"More than ten years of sanctions and the loss of much of Iraq's physical nuclear infrastructure under IAEA oversight......"

"Iraq had an advanced nuclear weapons development program before the Gulf war that focused on building an implosion-type weapon using highly enriched uranium. Baghdad was attempting a variety of uranium enrichment techniques, the most successful of which were the electromagnetic isotope separation (EMIS) and gas centrifuge programs. After its invasion of Kuwait, Iraq initiated a crash program to divert IAEA-safeguarded, highly enriched uranium from its Soviet and French-supplied reactors, but the onset of hostilities ended this effort. Iraqi declarations and the UNSCOM/IAEA inspection process revealed much of Iraq's nuclear weapons efforts."

"Before its departure from Iraq, the IAEA made significant strides toward dismantling Iraq's nuclear weapons program and unearthing the nature and scope of Iraq's past nuclear activities."

What were the significant strides that the UN made toward dismantling the program?

They closed facilities, took away capabilities for developing materials, resources, chemicals as well as destroyed and took away vital materials for the development and further growth of their programs.

Obviously this was mostly done before the inspectors were either kicked out or weren't allowed access to many facilities. So it is possible they could have restarted or obtained new capabilities; but there's no definite data or research on that. But it has been widely known that the UN inspections and disarmament programs helped push back Iraq from creating and developing nuclear weapons and capabilities at least a decade.
