Watching the troops in Iraq brought back some memories of the brotherhood that I had when I served in the Marine Corps

I joined a few months after desert storm was over and I was assigned to the 7th Marine Regiment after boot camp and Infantry training. We were deployed to Somalia for Operation Restore hope in December of 92. It started off as a peacekeeping mission but it turned into a fiasco after Clinton was elected.

Anyone who has served in the military knows that the US Armed Forces has a rich tradition and a unique heritage. God Bless the troops. Semper Fi

Air Force and currently in the NJ Air National Guard. I spent a year in the ROK, hooray!

Reeshy, where were you stationed? My dad was a pilot and we spent time in Port Angeles, Chicago, Mobile, Los Angeles, Headquarters in DC, and Hawaii.

I've worked for the CIA, Dept. of the Army, Dept. of the Navy and for a couple US embassies overseas...does that count for anything?

When I was young, I used to be a General in my G.I. Joe brigade.

Seriously, no military experience here, but I am proud of my Grandfather, who served in the Navy and was wounded at Pearl Harbor, my father who was a Marine, and my friend Mark, who is currently doing ordnance disposal in Afghanistan with the Army.

ADF,
I was mostly in the Pacific on the USCGC Dallas-378' cutter-aircrew. Did a stint off of VN doing SAR for downed pilots and skimming the coast throwing some shells for the Marines and boarding junks looking for contraband(mostly looking for ganja)!!! Had a great time for 4 years-almost stayed but I got married like a jerk!!!!!

I was in the Navy booth camp in San Diego for 4 weeks but got kicked out when my urine test tested positive for cocaine...

One of my older brothers friends who dealt coc gave me a "going away" gram... I partied with the neighbors two nights before landing in San Diego...

I was doing great, passing all my runs and swim tests, etc. but then the dreaded day came when i got called into the Company Commander's office...

19, Stupid, felt like a big L "LOSER"...

I loved being in, man were we taking alot of shit when we firtst got there. The guys with the shortest hair took the most shit... I actually enjoyed it cause I knew it was a "booth camp ritual"

all I could do was "move on" with my life...

Hopefully I'll be at the US Air Force Academy come June. Here is a picture of me getting my nomination. Ladies, I'm tied down, but don't let that stop you.

Bergalad, of course.
Fortunately the peacekeeping of Baghdad will most likely be left to the Army.
