I'd like to pose a question to the HHH haters on this board: We bitch about a lot of the things HHH does. But isn't his biggest problem the fact that he's completely horrible to watch in the ring? I mean be honest, would any of us complain about seeing him all the time if he put on consistently entertaining matches and he kept it interesting? His biggest problem isn't that he doesn't put anyone over. It isn't the backstage politics, it isn't the constant burying of people. It's the realization that when HHH gets into the ring he's no fun to watch. We can wax as intellectually as any smark but it all boils down to the basest instinct of any wrestling fan: We want to enjoy watching matches. We want to see cool moves, the occasional highspots and we all want the chance to mark out. Being able to mark out is the whole frigging point of watching wrestling. Pro Wrestling is supposed to be entertaining and HHH can't do that. Shawn Michaels was as bad as HHH in his day with the backstage crap but you'll NEVER hear me bitch about it because Shawn Michaels put on some of the most kick ass matches ever. With HHH there's no payoff at the end fo all his exposure. No promise of anything except a 20 minute promo. No reward for the fans who sat through it. We'd all like to see someone who'd put on more entertaining matches with the belt. A lot of people wanted jericho, a lot wanted RVD, a lot wanted Booker T because their matches are a damn sight more fun to watch than HHH's. Is there anyone who'll agree that they wouldn't have a problem with HHH being in sht spotlight as much as he is if he was worth watching in the ring?

Before his injury that kept him out of the ring for 10 months, Hunter was putting on mostly 4 star matches. Whether it was because or in spite of him, his matches were usually very fun to watch. He had some great matches with Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, the Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Steve Austin and the Rock. Some of these (Iron man match w/ Rock, 2/3 fall match w/ Austin) were 5 star classics to me. When he returned from his injury, he was carrying a lot more muscle than before. This affected his in ring performance. It just so happens that it was during his matches with a new crop of opponents like Rob Van Dam. Although, he did have an incredible match with Shawn Michaels, he was not putting on matches that were anywhere near what he used to do. Backstage office politics aside, he simply was doing what he was once cabable of doing. Along with the fact that guys like RVD and Scott Steiner were unable to contribute much to their matches unlike pros like Austin and Rocky. Where this will go from here is probably downhill.

SuperClerk...

I usually agree with your take on the wrestling world. Now, it certainly won't affect either one of our lives if we disagree on something, but I have to know what your beef is with Rob Van Dam? I find him to be one of the most entertaining memebers of the WWE roster. Sure, he's not Benoit, Jericho, or Angle, but so few are. His matches with Eddy Guerrero, Jericho, others have consostantly been some of the best matches on any given night/card. From some reports he might be a dick outside the ring, but what is it about him that makes you dislike his in-ring performance?

:)

I can just see a mini-HHH in a creative meeting now, jumping up & down on the office table on top of a script that has him dropping his title:

NO! NO! NO!
DOWN! DOWN! DOWN!
MINE! MINE! MINE!

I don't have any beef with Rob Van Dam. I just don't think he is really capable of holding up his end in a match. Most of his great matches were carried by his opponents. Guys like Jerry Lynn and Sabu helped carry RVD to great matches. I just don't think that RVD can help carry any of the guys in WWE to a great match anymore. He is too reckless and careless. Just ask Kurt Angle. That's why his short lived main event run with Austin and Angle was cut short. I really do enjoy watching RVD. I always have. But he is unable to carry Triple H to a great match without involving garbage wrestling.

All we can hope for is that HHH does something to fuck up his marriage. Then, he'll be jobbing to Shannon Moore in no time, if he even still has a job.

funny shit...

I disagree that Jerry Lynn carried RVD in those matches. Not that Jerry Lynn is incapable of carrying someone, but to carry someone to the match of the year is a bit of a stretch. Those two put on three or four of the best matches I've ever seen. I think it takes two great talents to pull that off.

As for RVD being unable to carry HHH, I do agree. I wish HHH (like everyone else says) should drop a little bulk & not need to be carried, then those two could really tear some shit up. But I doubt that on both ends: HHH will not allow himself to get smaller & won't likely ever get in the ring with RVD one-on-one.

When it comes to RVD being unable to hold up his end in a match, I guess we'll have to agree to diagree...but still both enjoy watching. These days, that's all we can ask for & doesn't happen nearly enough.

I think the problem is that Triple H goes out of his way to bury people that he shouldn't even have matches with. See while The Rock jobs to The Hurricane, Triple H is burying Maven in 2.5 seconds. Then Triple H, after his WrestleMania match with Booker T, decides to face, THE HURRICANE? And what happens? He lets him get a bit of offense before completely burying him.

I believe that is why everyone is so hard on Triple H. At least the others in the WWE know when to put someone over. Where it is on the mic or in the ring. Apparently you don't have to put anyone over when you are porking the owners Fat Ass Daughter.
