Hockey is corrupt and needs to take a year off.
The sport has lost its dignity with all the high paying contracts, and teams going bankrupt. The sport is yet to land a major television deal, and will not until it become more appealing than a boxing match meets the ice capades.
Referee's are biased, and do not call the obstruction penalties that were supposed to return the game to its fast paced edge. Ref's are trained in the minors, then brought to the majors, but the refs are random. If the league had reffing teams, it would make it easier to pin-point biased ref's and remove these asswipes.
Coaches are being thrown out like bad habits, but before they can prove themselves. NYR's Bob Trottier was never given the chance to salvage an already dismal team. When you have Pavel Bure injured, you just cant win games easily, and it wasnt just the russian rocket who was injured, The team is like watching seniors on ice. Ron Wilson was fired after a abysmal season for the caps, but in reality Olaf Kolzig let the team down, and Jagr produced nothing. Not to mention, the caps are a veteran team and thier leadership players were all injured. Whining owners in the NHL are turning into Daniel Snyder, if this coach doesnt pan out, ill bang this coach...
The last rant, players.
Hockey players have developed high and mighty egos. Thier contracts are supposed to show us how great they are, but in reality, with all the self aborbstion, they don't show thier worth. The Maple leafs have traded away thier future for star billing players, and they are all injured, just in time for playoffs. The Caps and Rangers prove that a high payroll doesnt mean youll be in the Elite 10 teams. The philadelphia flyers have a great team, but they choked in the playoffs and now they are just another statistic, big paycheck, big loss. Young players in the NHL are going to decide which teams succeed in the playoffs, and if you want proof of a team that has young talent and kicks ass. Minnesota....Marian Gaborik will be huge, and his entire team is great, thier system is great.
Predictions, Vancouver vs. Ottawa in NHL Cup Finals.
Caps out in second round.
