Not that I agree with protesting the war, but people DO have the right to protest it....

Good.
People do have the right to protest, but PEACEFULLY.

It says nothing in the Constitution about protestors having the right to fuck up other people's day.

Okay, 25 years is pretty extreme.

But I am sick of hearing about these people just getting arrested and having to pay little $50 fines.

The problem with this is that there's endless debate over the definition of "terrorist."

They're talking felony-level sentences for these crimes, and that's a bit out of hand.

Larson said protesters should be protected by free speech laws, but not given free reign to hold up ambulances or frighten people out of their daily routines, adding that police and the court system could be trusted to see the difference.

This is definitely a problem, especially here in D.C.

I wouldn't give them 25 YEARS, but I'd pass some statutes allowing the courts to fine the shit out of them. Steep fines too, at least 1,000 bucks. If that doesn't deter some of the crazier shit that's done, then let's talk about some light jail sentences.

@5 years is dopey and I doubt that bill is going anywhere. As soon as they try to give someone a sentence like that for blocking the streets, there'll be a big-ass lawsuit and that will be that.
If one disagrees with the protesters, the solution is simple----counter protest.
The way to deal with a bad idea that someone is putting out is to put out a better idea of one's own.

A typo doesn't invalidate his point. Spending time in jail for civil disobedience is insane (as long as we're not talking about violence or damage of property). I think the vast majority of protestors are idiots, but that seems to be par for the course for humanity.
