Is that the same as "I support the Firemen but I'm against putting out the fire"?
Just curious.

Shut up, Chachi. I'll fling my feces where I want.

And to clarify, and more accurate comparative analogy would have been, "I'm against fire, but I support the firefighters." I support and appreciate the guys who put their lives on the line, but I "oppose" a situation that forces them to do so, even though it's their job.

TV 'Batman' Star In Dog Feces Flap
Ward Ordered By Local Water Board To Clean Up Mess

POSTED: 10:24 a.m. EST April 3, 2003

As Batman might say, "Holy dog feces, Robin!"

Burt Ward -- who played Robin in the old "Batman" television series -- literally has a mess on his hands. Ward has a Great Dane rescue center in Norco, Calif., and some of the dogs' feces are getting into a nearby creek.

There's water runoff from his property into the creek, so Ward's been ordered to clean it up. The local water quality control board says Ward has to come up with plans to fix the problem.

If Ward doesn't comply with the board's orders, he could be fined and even have his center shut down.

The issue came to the fore when Ward's neighbors started complaining.

It's like, I don't want to seem like a COMPLETE FOOL by being against the troops even though I actually think they are cowards for not disobeying OBVIOUSLY CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS so, when pressed by a direct question like, 'Do you support the troops?' I'll say, 'Yes, yes I do'.

I would like to know from those who say they support the troops but not the war, what SPECIFICALLY have you done to support the troops? In between the time protesting the war, bitching about Bush and otherwise trying to influence people to have your opinion(s) have you actually DONE ANYTHING to support the troops?? Sent a letter, packed up some goods to send over, participated in some event supporting the troops, etc.?? I'm sure some of you have........and I'm just as sure most of you have not.

Well on the same notion...what has anyone who is for the war done for the troops? It's probably the same on both ends of the spectrum.

i dont know how anyone can't understand this. what does one thing have to do with the other, really? supporting the troops mean that you appreciate that they're willing to put their lives on the line for something that they feel is worth fighting for. it means that you want them to succeed and want them to come home safely. that's got nothing to do with whether you support the war.

To answer a question I posed in another thread and to give everybody a chance to do something more concrete than arguing about this question on message boards

http://www.billoreilly.com/pg/jsp/community/contactcenter.jsp

I'm not a big fan of Bill O'Reilly but his web site is the only one where I found the information on how to send in a few shekels to help out the families of those military personnel who get killed, wounded, etc.

I heard on the Imus show that the widow or family of a soldier killed in action only gets something like ten grand and if he/she has kids they only get a couple of hundred $ per month until they are 18. This is shameful; everybody should write Congress and the White House to get this raised substantially and, if you're out of school and have a job, I believe you should get out your checkbook and send what you can. I'm sending in the same amount as I did to the 9/11 fund.

OK, sermon over. Back to the pissing matches! ;-)

Ok...so you use Bill O'reilly as a refernce point to what constitutes support? He's a media whore. He's the Richard Bey of social and political issues. Gimme a break with that load of bs.

If you are going to seriously question how someone can be against the war and support the troops....mention something you do that supports the troops. Not just armchair rooting. Donating money to charity and good funds/ causes is admirable and a nice gesture....but it's an after effect of what goes. If a solider is not at war, he won't get shot or die. Therefore, donating money to that cause is an after thought, not directly or specifically supporting them now.

Dozens of fans walked out of a Pearl Jam concert after lead singer Eddie Vedder took a mask of President Bush and impaled it on a microphone stand.

Several concertgoers booed and shouted Tuesday night for Vedder to shut up as he told the crowd he was against the war and Bush. He impaled the mask during the encore of the band's opening show of a U.S. tour.

...
During the show, Vedder said: "Just to clarify... we support the troops."

Success=victory=pro-war. Gotcha. spoken like a true war supporter... success does not necessarily equal victory to someone who is against the war. success may very well mean coming home alive, and without having sustained irreparable emotional and mental harm. further, i think you'd be hard pressed to find many anti-war people who want the US to lose if we are going to be in this war (except for that disgusting piece of crap professor at columbia). they just don't want the war at all.

Is this the special ed board?no, this is just the forum where otherwise intelligent people allow their ability to reason and think logically to turn to marshmallows because they feel so strongly for their side.

The debate about whether or not the war is just is over. We're at war, and as we enter an uncertain battle in Baghdad isn't it time that the protestors apologized and came back home to support our troops? Even France and Germany are making ammends already.

I'm suprised no one mentioned PJ and Vedder's comments earlier. Now I remember why I'm in the 10Club and a huge fan.

When PJ comes to nyc in July...even if you oppose their thoughts and actions...don't protest their concerts...it's anti-american.

The debate about whether or not the war is just is over.

It's not over. The precedent set by this war will have a terrible effect on international relations for years to come. India has a strong case for a preemptive war against Pakistan. North and South Korea have a great case for preemptive wars against each other.

When will it end?

When all nuclear arsenals are gone, when an oil-free energy alternative is in use by everyone for everything, when there is one world government, when money is obsolete.......

In other words.... never.

At least, not in our lifetimes.
