This time the "Deminsky and Doyle Show" gets the FCC's attention, talking about different sexual positions and being rather graphic about it.

The FCC document is here but it's a long PDF file with quite a bit of legalspeak (i.e. pretty boring]. Page down to "attachment A" for a transcript of the broadcast that landed the station a fine.

The thing that irks me, is that you have situations like this (similar to what got O&A fired), and these DJ's are apparently still on the air. O&A at least cloaked the language so only those "in the know" understood what was happening. This broadcast was a bit more graphic than O&A's Sex for Sam show.

I don't believe Ron and Fez ever caused Infinity to get fined, and they get knocked off a NY station, but guys costing the company money out in Michigan are still rolling along. Sucks :(

Why does the FCC have so much damn power, and where exactly do these "morals" come from that they force on us?

Why is the edgiest radio anymore ESPN? wtf?

I'm not sure of the finer details of the FCC's powers, but I'm sure that they are derived from the same source that our regular legal system is. They just act to suggest and enforce the regulations that are imposed, at least as far as radio broadcasts are concerned. They also regulate transmission methods (cell phones, microwave, CB, Amatuer Radio, etc.) as well as co-ordinate frequencies.

I'm sure that if they overstepped their bounds too much that the government would let them know.

If I had to determine their method of reacting to issues based on the two events mentioned here (O&A and D&D), then I would say that if there's enough outcry (Catholic League), they threaten to pull a license, otherwise they only fine. I didn't see mention of how much outcry arose from D&D's broadcast, though.
