1 - everwood
2 - angel
3 - without a trace
4 - american dreams
5 - alias
6 - boomtown

angel is one of my two favorite shows, the other one being buffy. they are both amazing, and that's why they are the only things i watch on tv. when buffy goes off the air at the end of this season, i guess angel will be my favorite. it's definitely a shame that more people don't watch it.

so, what about the rest of these shows? does anyone watch them? are they really this good?

angel

This is a great show and totaly under rated. As for Buffy I've liked it form the start and am sad they are ending it. Well actually Sara is ending it and I think thats a mistake, don't get me wrong I think shes a great actress but her choice in films to work on suck for the most part.

Well actually Sara is ending it and I think thats a mistake, don't get me wrong I think shes a great actress but her choice in films to work on suck for the most part. i know, i'm terribly disappointed in her. it's not like she hasn't been able to make a couple of crappy films a year even while doing buffy. so, great, now she can put out even more bad movies while ending the best show on television, and the best role she's ever likely to get. good job.

let's give Sarah a break, she's been doing the same gig for 7 years.

BTw: I think Angel is as good a show as buffy, if not better. It certainly is creepier, with that Cordy-banging-Connor storyline.

I liked the last Angel up to the end. The next episode looks like a bad Twilight Zone.. the new one. Buffy's great, but Sara Michelle Gellar is no great shakes as an actress... mediocre, at best.

Without a trace is a must see show for me. Also another show that they are trying to kill is Ed. Third is West Wing.

Too bad that all the good shows are in trouble and American Idol, Survivor, Big Brother, etc. continue to infect my TV.

What was that cop show that came out last year starring Tom Sizemore? It was produced my Michael Mann? I think it was called "Robbery Homicide Division" or something...but it was a great, great show...too bad it died an early death.

Like the equally underappreciated "Homicide", it was overshadowed by a flashier, but ultimately shittier cop show...with "Homicide" it was "NYPD Blue"...with the Sizemore show, it was "The Shield". Ugh.

It certainly is creepier, with that Cordy-banging-Connor storyline.that's usually true. although i think the scene where spike's newly-turned-vamp mother tried to get him to fuck her takes the "creepy" cake.

but Sara Michelle Gellar is no great shakes as an actress... mediocre, at besti'll let this comment slide only because i know that you don't know any better. you just started watching buffy this season. you never saw the episode where buffy killed angel, or the one where she sacrificed herself to save dawn and the world (again). you never saw the mental hospital episode, or the one where joyce died. i could go on, but i think my point is well taken, at least by us buffy fanatics. on a week-to-week basis, her acting is good, but not necessarily anything special. but, on certain occasions, i feel confident in saying that her performances were nothing short of extraordinary.

i can't believe my buffy's going away :(

I've been watching buffy since season one, and I don't think she's that great an actress. With scripts like the ones on buffy, a high school drama club could come off smelling like a rose. i've also seen "cruel intentions"and "scooby doo." she wasn't exactly stellar in these. It's the writing, not the acting that makes Buffy so good.

<font color=purple>They're right on the money with Everwood. I've been a fan for a few months now. And have turned a few others onto it, as well.

It examines the father-son relationship in a way that's never been done on television before, has a nice little love story/triangle going for it, is well written and has a real good cast.

The WB also does something that's kinda cool; if you miss Monday night's episode, as I aften have, you can catch/tape it on Sunday nights at 6:00.

Another one that springs to mind is Grounded For Life, recently added to the WB's Friday night line-up, after getting canned by FOX.

Pretty funny. Each episode is told in a series of flashbacks, which is pretty different, and it also has a winning cast.

For Entertainment Tonight, this is Gary Wyze signing off. See you at the Multiplex!

It's the writing, not the acting that makes Buffy so good.that was my point earlier in the thread (which, somehow, has become a discussion of buffy more than anything else... which is fine by me) - she's not going to find another role like buffy. the writing gives her the vehicle by which she comes off as a really great actress. i have a feeling she'll be in for quite a surprise when critics dont praise her in her future endeavors as they did with buffy

Reruns air on USA on Monday nights at 12 midnight.

And I could not disagree with you more about "The Shield." It's one of the best shows on TV.

"The Shield"and "24" lost me because they simply seem to be MTV-style TV for adults. Ritalin-TV...I like shows where I can sit back and relax and think and not have to be playing catch up every other minute because SOMETHING BIG and LOUD and DRAMATIC and SHOCKING HAS TO HAPPEN EVERY SCENE or else it's just NOT IMPORTANT and then valuable TV-watching time has been WASTED.

I'm in the minority I guess when I like shows like "The Sopranos" more and more with each season BECAUSE they're much slower paced and there's obviously a larger story going on. I don't NEED everything wrapped up in one episode or a couple weeks or even one season. I feel that network TV for the most part just feels the need to wrap everything up in a nice little package as soon as possible, or make things as flashy and as outrageous as possible just to steal more attention away from the "other guy." I mean, I loved "Homicide" so much because cases from the FIRST EPISODE were still important and an issue 4, 5 years down the line...

Well actually Sara is ending it and I think thats a mistake,
because it would be much better if she and joss whedon continued to try and make the show even though neither of their hearts are still in it. there's money, so they should keep doing the show even if they can't come up with any new ideas, it's much better to run a good show into the ground rather than end it with a bang.

joss whedon said he'd love to continue Buffy he just wouldnt do without sarah.....and once buffy is done he is going to devote more time and enerry to angel..while hoping to create another spinoff to buffy possibly starring faith or any of the other characters that are left standing after the last episode.......

hoping to create another spinoff to buffy possibly starring faith or any of the other characters that are left standing after the last episode.......while i really like faith's character, i wouldn't want to see "faith the vampire slayer"... it would just be too buffy. (that said, of course i would watch it if they were to make it.) however, i think willow would make for a great protagonist in a spin-off, what with all her power and internal struggle between good and evil. sounds workable to me

arienette...no response for spike being on Angel next season?i was trying to ignore that comment. i really hate knowing things in advance about both buffy and angel. but since you've brought it to my attention again - i think that's fabulous. spike is a great character with so much more depth than i ever imagined he had when he and drusilla first showed up in buffy, season 2. my only possible misgiving about it is how the whole "two vampires, two souls" thing is going to work. it has some pretty serious cheese potential, especially given the fact that they've both been in love with buffy, etc, etc. but, i'll give it the same chance as i do with all things buffy and angel... which is to say that i generally defer to the writers, and trust that they know better than i do. i'm generally right.

but still pluss i hope cordilla is dead she better be it looked like she was i'm sorry, sheepness... from what i understand, she's in a coma

The way it is set up is that you get to see a crime though many different people's eyes. You get to see the Criminals point of view, the cops, the district attorny etc.

i here they're going to tone that down, so basically the show's one purpose is going to be dismantled so that viewers aren't "confused". It's just like 'Cursed' when they just scrapped the idea of the show after a week....
