XMEN was a fantastic movie. They did that shit right 60% wolverine 40% rest. X2 looks exponetially better. The previews show the best CG, and special effects i have ever seen. With a Month until the premere what do you guys think. All i got to say is Wolverine+Colosus+Night Crawler+ wolvi's past(sabertooth, lady deathstrike, evil candain dr that gave him adamantium skelton)= this movie is gonna be the BOMB SHIT. If you cant tell Marvel comics are my fav and these movies a some of the best i have ever seen. (Spiderman, Daredevil, XMEN, and cant wait for the future releses of Hulk, X2, Spidy2, Punisher, and Iron MAN) :)

What I would love is a Silver Surfer movie.
Done right.
Huge budget, like $150 million, state of the art CGI.
Directed by Danid Fincher.
That would be awesome.

I want a twelve part animated "Watchmen" mini-series on HBO.
I want the same for "The Invisibles", just many, MANY more episodes.
I want a trilogy of "Preacher" films starring Johnny Depp (Custer...though they've already supposedly cast James Marsden. Nuts.), Robert Carlyle (Cassidy), Samuel L. Jackson (The Saint of Killers) and John Malkovich (Starr). No idea who'd play Tulip. Or Arseface. Heh..."arse"...
I want Brian Bendis' "Goldfish", "Jinx", "Torso" and "Powers" series all made into films ("Powers" as an HBO 'toon series).
A series of "100 Bullets" films would be the most kickass thing ever made.
I want a "Transmetropolitan" film or two, starring Patrick Stewart.
Greg Rucka's "Queen & Country" and "Whiteout" series would make any James Bond film look like a cakewalk.
God, I love comics. Cut the superhero shit and make with the QUALITY films!

AMEN!!
A Silver Surfer movie would kick some serious ass. He is such an amazing & unique superhero AND they would have to give Galactus some screen time! That would be a huge undertaking.
I don't know if I totally agree with Fincher though. His movies are so gritty & dirty that it might conflict with the hi-tech and "fantastical" look of The Surfer. I love all his movies though, so I'm totally open to the idea.
Are there any rumours of a Surfer movie?

Just To Clarify. Dare Devil is by no means one of the greatest movies, but It is stil better then alot of the shit they produce like the last 12 Eddi murphy movies or the shit that wins oscars like fukin chicago. Also it is a Good movie because of that X2 preview they had (which was better then the whole movie) and seeing ben afleck get the shit kiked out of him makes it worth while. Come on that kingin figh twasnt awsome? sure it oculd have been 20 min longer and ben could have had his skul crushed but hey making hte sprinkler system go off of coarse evens the odds for a blind man and a huge 300lbs of muscil fighter right?

The original Dolph Lundgren Punisher?
Captain America?
The live-action Spider-Men of yester year?
The last 3 Batman movies?
Any Way Ever Since X-Men has been released, i have been in heaven. that movie was fuckin awesome, couldnt have done it better. Spider-man was easily the best movie i've seen in a long time. They did it perfectly, Sam Raimi is perfect. Daredevil was dissapointing, but still good.
I cant wait for the next wave of the marvel movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

would be WORTH the undertaking.
they took something like 3 years to make Final Fantasy...the least they can do is take 2 years out to make Surfer.
oh man, and seeing Galactus destroy whole worlds and crap? niiiiiice.

Suggesting the X-Men movie was the greatest movie ever is tantamount to saying Bob Ross was the greatest artist ever.
The Godfather? Seven Samurai? The Seventh Seal? Citizen Kane? Vertigo? Raging Bull? Apocalypse Now? 2001? Killer Clowns from Outer Space? The Bicycle Thief? Breathless? The Third Man?
Wolverine is the shizziitt. Halle Berry is the fattityhizzit. But the best movie ever...As John Ashbery would say...I am numb with thrips.

Vin Diesel has already said he'd like to do it.
And I enjoyed DareDevil. It was a good, straightforward comic movie.
David Goyer (the man who started the current spat of Marvel movies) is now working with DC and we may be seeing some good movies from them too.

Vin Diesel on Surfer is worse than Afflick on Daredevil.
I also would love to see a SS move with Thanos, Galactus, Tyrant, Nova, and the other heralds. Special effects by ILM and storyboards by Claudio Castellini.
Maybe give the role to Adrian Brody. If he won't take it, maybe X-Files ex's Robert Patrick or David Duchovny would.

Did we see the same movie? I thought it was great...dripping with atmosphere...honest to the Miller interpretation (Born Again...)...of course it could've used a little tweaking...you won't find a superhero film that doesn't...especially if you're a fanatic. Look at the grosses...the film did very well and will do even better on DVD. Your standards are set way too high. Like the aforementioned shit adaptations (Punisher, Spidey, Batman 3 & 4, Spawn, The Phantom, Superman (with that radio active guy who was horny for the chick from Delirious), the Darkman sequels...I can go on forever...) I think Daredevil definately ranks amongst my top ten best adaptations.
I personally would like to see the old Valiant superheroes brought to life...Magnus Robot Fighter, Solar: Man of the Atom, Rai, XO Manowar, Archer & Armstrong...maybe even that Malibu character Prime...the kid who could turn into a beefy superhero...maybe some image comcis...Maxx...Pitt....
X2 does look great. I only worry about character overload, which usually leads to very poor character development. Eventually you'll end up with an Armageddon like cast where only the major characters are developed and everybody else just has a quirk that's funny or useful in a clutch.
By the way i'd just like to add how much I fucking hate that scene in armageddon where they are de-fusing a nuclear bomb. Mind you a NUCLEAR BOMB, the most complex bomb design in the world...rendered useless by the simple cutting of the blue wire. That's right, you unscrew a couple of pieces, pull them out, to reveal two wires...one of which renders the device useless. Wonderful. The oldest cliche in movie history...and real insulting waste of screen time. Oh, and I'm sure all air force pilots go through nuclear bomb defusing class as part of thier flight training.

X2 will be good, I'll admit that. Greatest Movie EVER? Calm down, Spanky. Your spooking the mundanes. With Matrix 2 and 3 coming out this year, I doubt it will be the best movie of the year. But it will kick much ass, and I'll drop my eight bucks for Daredevil's only redeaming quality.
Now Mojo got's The Plan. It's just a shame that Hollywood couldn't see a good story if it was giving them their morning coffee enema. Looked what they did to From Hell. How the hell can the two guys who gave us Dead Presidents balk the ending that badly?
I'm still waiting for Rodregiez to get off this Spy Kids shit and do Madman. And I know it's clich‚, but I nominate Tarintino for the first 100 Bullets story.

Huh? Did you even see the trailer? He's going beserker in X2...I do agree he could've stepped up the intensity (although Logan is pretty sensitive and caring in the book...look at his interactions with Wendigo) but cmon...I can't think of an actor who looks and acts the part of Wolverine better than him.

I also enjoyed "From Hell", until the ending, at which point I hollored at the screen, "REFUND!", and really pissed off the guy sitting in front of me. It was great until they completely pussed out on the ending. You hire a director team whose past two movies ended with their predominately black cast either dying or going to jail, then you won't let them kill one white female lead? It's smacks of both pandering and racism, IMO.

Oh, I thought you were griping about Depp dying...Heather Graham's character not dying didn't bother me, because she didn't die in the book either, and that was one of the more key plot points they kept in the film, so it really didn't bother me at all...in fact, I was worried they WOULD kill her, and fully betray the climax of Moore's book...of course, her surviving has more impact in the book, because Gull basically realizes this right before he dies, essentially giving him a final comeuppance before he dies in the asylum...

rollins would be purely ridiculous, id pay 16 bucks to see him be wolverine, now as far as all of this stuff goes i think this movie will be a vast improvment over the first (which in my opinion isnt saying much) i would like to see everything that mojo listed ESPECIALLY the preacher movies, sweet jeebus i loved that series and just to see the ending of the series on film would be enough for me. as for requests i would personally like to see
Matt Damon as Wally West a.k.a. The Flash
i think this movie has a lot of promise, you use the story elements from the begging of wallys run where he was fighting vandal savage, because at this point Wally although a hero was point blank, an asshole which i think is really funny...
nother request
Collin Farrel as The Hitman, anyone that read this series knows that this is completely underrated and really needs to become a movie in my opinion, some of Ennis' best work

I do like the Bal;de series but the only problem about Blade movies is they fuk up the story line. Whistler obviously died in the first movie. His head was hanging on by a thread, he's bleeding to death, lost about 5 pints of blood, and he shoots himslef in the forehead before he turns into a vanpire. This motivates blade to fuk up the evil vanpire mesiah.
Then for no reason at all hes back in Balde 2, they re-edit his origanal ending so it had a weakest possiblity of him living, inturn make that a gay plot loop hole. and if he is a vanpire that is almost killed and broght bak to life over a 3 year peiord of torture and experimentation, then why cant he regrenerate his bum leg. Everything else is fixed, also he stil has shit vision, and hearing and attitude.
whats instore for blade 3, the vanpire chik dosent die at the end, the new vanpire hybrid comes back, or a new more powerful hybrid that is immune to sunlight is formed.hmmm souds like they ran ot of ideas for the 2nd, only god knows whats instore in the 3rd.

At the end of the book, Mary Kelly brings a friend to stay with her after her boyfriend moves out. She's out "working" when Gull comes from her, and not knowing any better, he kills the friend instead. Mary leaves London and ends up a mother in Ireland, which Gull sees as his spirit "travels" right before he dies. I agree with most of mojo's choices, but richard o'brian is made to be spider jerusalem (rocky horror, dark city, ever after, dungeons and dragons)
Collin Farrel as The Hitman, anyone that read this series knows that this is completely underrated and really needs to become a movie in my opinion, some of Ennis' best work
Hitman is my absolute favorite comic. Farrel would be very good as tommy, with that fat black guy from "romeo must die" as nat the hat, and you gotta have Etrigan in there too, amybe even a cameo by Batman.

But it's never expressly said it's her...I had to read it twice to catch what happened, which is why I was impressed that it was kept in the film...
It's expressly written in teh annotations in the back of the trade paperback.
And Gambit was a Longshot rip-off. Even the writers who created him admit it. They wanted a darker Longshot, so they sent him to the Mojoverse with Dazzler and introed Gambit.

Ah, but I managed to snag one of the limited edition velvet hardcovers, which was published without the notes AND the "Gullcatcher" epilogue...I didn't catch what had happened until I read it a second time, and my assumptions were confirmed when I finally sprung for a copy of the paperback almost two years ago and it came with the text notes and references...
Yeah, and Gambit represents everything that was wrong with Marvel for the last 20 years. Plus, he was basically French. AWFUL.

I too have to admit I was skeptical abiout Jackman when I found out he was playing Wolvie. But as soon as I saw him in the cage, I said to myself, "Holy shit, he's fucking done it." Just like that, out loud and everything. Anyone who's seen that and thinks that Jackman shouldn't be Wolverine, or that there is anyone better, is just plain wrong.

I'm rather partial to his spoken word albums.
But as much of a fan of Rollins as I am, he shouldn't be playing Wolverine.
And I agree with Mojo about Gambit. Maybe the most overrated / overused of the X-Men. Only Wolverine is more overused than him, but at least Logan is, you know, badass. I can't STAND Gambit. ESPECIALLY when Claremont writes him.

I heard Gambit is only going to have a cameo role. I'm more interested in seeing how they handle the effects for Colossus and Iceman. I have a feeling Colossus is going to look really bad, kind of like a T-1000 facsimile. He'd have to be mostly CG. It's not like they can paint him silver and expect that to fly.
Iceman too...ice itself is really hard to do animate in CG...it usually ends up looking like something between water and mirrored surfaces...I REALLY hope they don't do what Mutant X does and limit the powers to stupid light effects that come out of thier hands. That is so fucking gay. "Hey I shoot purple blasts....Hey I shoot green blasts...we must have different powers!". Mutant X is awful and I hope the masters find thier way next to Viper and Mantis on the failure shelf of television.

For bad comic book movies, is it too late to add "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.", starring the "Shatner of the 90s" David Hasslehoff??
My only real gripes with the first movie are how badly Storm was handled (could it take any longer for her to use her powers?..I'm biased though, she was always my favorite) and how badly Wolverine was made to fight. Here's a guy who's supposed to be one of the meanest fighters on the planet AND has those nasty claws..but put him in a fight with almost anyone else (Mystique) and his fighting skills go to crap. I'd like to have seen people hitting him and bawling in pain from striking that metal skeleton.
The intro with Magneto was awesome, and I hoped to see him show more of his powers and really the original costume..the helmet above all. Details aside (and those are always debatable), X-Men had the comic book feel and action, and I can't wait for the next one...lucky we don't have to wait much longer!!!

Very true...but man, I love the hardcover. It's all black velvet, front, spine and back, and the title is writen in what looks like Victorian-style handwriting, very small, right in the center of the cover...blood-red, of course...I like having the paperback too because I can just knock that thing around and not worry about it getting beat up...

X2 The Greatest?
Hardly, They took a great great comic and turn it into some lame teeny booper movie. I mean first of all in the comic Wolverine is pretty well aged. His age adds to the grittyness of his character. But the in the movie he's like some 25 year old man.
I didn't like with the did with Rogue. They made her into some awkward teenager. In the comic Rogue is loud and boisterous, a total opposite of how she was portrayed in the movie.

Wolvie is not 2 young hes actually over 200 years old and his super regeneration powere keep him young. If you remember the comics in the future (probly another 150 or so years) when Cabel and Bishop are the new heros wolvie is finally old but stil kiking ass. so odnt be bitching he looks 2 young. and how is X2 a teeny bopper movie? i dont c anything but fukin harcore action, good storyline, fantastic special effects, and a movie that is better then 90% of the shit that is out there. you ever see the shit that wins emmys and awards. 99% suk balz, most are indi films no one ever saw or heard of, and when fukin chicago wins everythign you got a shity award system that movie blew goats. X2 blows all that shit away, and it wasnt made by a fukin petafile who druged and ass raped a 13 year old. there is no argument X2 will not be beat until spidy 2. dont even bring up the matrix thats in a class by itself.

gambit was the shit.........did u read Wolverine and Gambit? thats one of the best 4 part series of all time. oh wat about "Big Trouble in the Big Easy"? gambit is proven to be amazing in that. his love for Bella Donna can actually be seen when she dies. the series proves ghost rider, gambit, and wolvie
and whats wrong wtih bishop? hes a great character, an x-man from the future. and hes a proven leader, bishop is a great character. same thing goes for psylocke. her psai knife combined with her ninja skills makes a her a deadly foe. plus she took on shadow king by herself, no one but xaviers beenable to do that and survive.

From about 1993 until 1999. NONSTOP. Ugh. Claremont's worst fault was how with characters like Gambit, Colossus and Nightcrawler he'd have them say random words in their native language in an everyday conversation, and it sounded absurd.
I forgot about Cable. He's as bad as 90's Marvel goes. I mean, come on, he's Liefeld creation...it doesn't get much worse than that...
Gambit and other "grim 'n gritty" characters in the late 80's and much of the 90's were everything Alan Moore was mocking/criticizing/stripping bare with Rorshach in "Watchmen", yet nobody seemed to "get" that. Gambit even had a goddamn trenchcoat...he was indicative of everything that was wrong with X-Men for a good ten years: mysterious characters that came on, had a big backstory hinted at behind them, but the "mystery" would just be added to the pile and dragged out for dozens and dozens of issues. Inevitably the writer would leave and be replaced again and again, and nobody would have any idea as to how to resolve ANYTHING.

actually hes one person i would recast in x-men. i think hes too young. or he looks too young, he doesnt look like a leader, just a kid. though he wouldve been the perfect bobby drake.
but as a character he is great. i remember when he was infected with the Brood and he took of his glasses and he controlled his powers..i was mesmorized.
and someone mentioned jubilee..i always saw her as a character wolverine needed. he's always needed someone to b a father figure for. first was kitty pryde, but she grew up. so jubilee was brought in simply so that wolverine gets a nicer image. hes allowed to show more than just his feral side.
thats why it was cool that they combined the characters of jubilee and rogue in the X-men movie.
and just for the record gambit was shit. i thought it was cool that each ethnic character would have certain phrases in their own native tongue. i saw it as marvel saying the mutants dont just exist in america, they come from everywhere all walks of life. i mean the most annoying accent of any x-man was without a doubt rogue. that farmers daughter had to have been railed more times than the transcontinental railroad. i mean shes a friggin hick...definitely the least favorite of accents.

Cyclops has the ability to shoot an optic blast that can melt steel but bounces off enemys like water. he is a turly useless character. All he does is talk shit and cry when someone brekas his glasses. Cyclops is the only character that Professor X failed because without his ruby visor or ruby glasses he cannot control his power. seriously whats the point of haveing a power like that if you have no control over it. of cyclops breaks his glasses and he has to cry in a corner until someone fixes them for him. what a loser. everyone else can control their shit. only one i can think of that had a problem was Ice man but he had a belt to control his shit. lIteraly everyone else can handel there shit. Yah.. I loved the story but they'd have to do Dark Phoenix first, and it would take another whole movie to explain Mr. Sinister, Maddy Pryor, X-Factor, and the New Mutants, and you still couldn't do the story the right way without theaters everywhere yelling "HUH?" as the credits rolled....

Head of the Weapon X program? I thought he was just now the head of some militia group that enslaves mutants and uses them as soldiers against other mutants, a la volume 2 of "Ultimate X-Men" a couple years back...

Mojo: yes, but his hidden past will be revealed. And that'll show him to be the former head of weapon x.

Just got back from a midnight screening of X2. I really do have to say :
Best. Comic Book Movie. Ever.
I won't post any specific spoilers. but I'll start with the only part I didn't like: the ending. A little too clean cut. Wasn't really realistic.
Everything else ruled. But what ruled most of all is where they seem headed for in the third film. The last image you see is so goddamned cool. I didn't think they'd have the balls to do it.
The fight scenes ruled. Especially Wolverine's. He really kicks ass in this film. Colossus's debut was cool. But probably the best scene in the whole film has to do with Magneto. Holy flurking shnit! A lot more action than in the first, and all of it is top notch.
You must see this film as soon as possible.
Oh yeah. one more thing bothered me. One disturbing character in this film seems to have gender issues. I thought it was real weird.
I need to post again. I really did love this movie. Right now, I want to see X-Men 3 10 times more than I want to see either of the Matrix films. It was that good.
The way Wolverine kicks ass in his first fight scene is classic. I was stunned, as was everyone sitting around me. He just lets loose. Any doubt I had that jackman could pull off Wolverine were silenced. And I think Colossus has some future.
Storm is 10 times better. A million times better. A zillion times better. In fact, the only character that seems worse this time around is Cyclops, and that is only due to lack of screen time.
I need to see it again. All the hype was right.

One question on the movie, who is Jason?
Stryker's son who was able to control Xavier, he was a grown man, and I don't remember him at all, was he a character?

*******SPOILER ALERT***************** Well since Stryker is not a real character in the comics, his son is also not a REAL character. However, he is suppossed to represent Jason Wyngard aka Mastermind. He is using the same power that mastermind uses and well resembles him too. It would've been nice to see him in the next movie too since he was responsible in the books for turning Phoenix into Dark Phoenix and getting her to lead the Hellfire Club. But this doesn't look like it can happen now....ahh well. Movie still ruled anyway

whats the point of haveing a power like that if you have no control over it.
if you read or followed xmen history you would know that cyclops suffered an injury to his head b4 his powers developed leaving him slightly damaged in the head. Thats why he has no control over his power

since Stryker is not a real character in the comics, his son is also not a REAL character
Actaully Stryker is based on a real character. There was a Reverand Stryker who was similar to this Stryker.
