3 weeks ago, I got an IV in the ER for dehydration. They also injected phenergan (an anti-nauseant) through the IV. I had some wierdass reaction to the phenergan (hallucinations, restlessness), and it burned really bad when it went up my vein.
Anyway. My arm really fucking hurts. It's hurt ever since i got the IV. The actual site where they put the IV doesn't hurt, but the vein they used for the IV hurts all the way up my arm.
Anyone know why it would still hurt?

Is it a tingling pain in the arm itself or is it the area where they put the IV in? They could have of pinched a nerve or poked one when they went in. Go see your regular doc cause the med students will just have plausible deniability on their side and will charge you for the consultation too

I got an IV in the ER for dehydration
Dehydration? Were you on diuretics, or not drinking sufficient water?
Unfortunately, I've had lots of personal experience w/hospitals and IV's. Often a medication burns when it enters the vein. Often the plastic that goes into the vein is slightly off and can cause a slight rupturing of the vein, leading to discomfort, tenderness and discoloration. IV's left in the vein for more than a few days will (in my experience) always result in tenderness and discoloration.
I've also had some pretty weird experiences with drugs from IV's - particularly those that went directly into my spinal fluid.
I'd suspect that your reaction to the medication may be contributing to your continuing discomfort. However, I am not an MD. I suggest that rather than consulting a nurse, you go to your regular MD, ASAP.

Angrymissy,
Sounds like you might have a phlebitis of the vein that was usesd for the IV. Warm soaks will help relieve it. If that doesn't help, see your health care provider ASAP! Good luck and feel better.

Maybe you should start injecting the heroin inbetween your toes.

Phlebitis and thrombosus usually affects the lower extremities (i.e. the legs).
