Athletic Director Allegedly Gave Student 'Violent Wedgies'

LEONIA, N.J. -- The athletic director at Leonia High School has been charged with sexually abusing a student over a year-long period, authorities said.

Robert Quinn, 49, of Leonia, was arrested Monday without incident at his home, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Quinn was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, official misconduct and criminal sexual contact, Molinelli said.


A man who answered the phone at Quinn's home Monday night said, "the charges are not true." The man declined to identify himself.

Quinn is accused of using his office to spank a 17-year-old male student, and having the student spank him with various objects, Molinelli said. He also is accused of fondling the student's genitals and buttocks, and giving the student "violent wedgies," Molinelli said.

Quinn was being held at the Bergen County Jail on Monday after Judge John Desheplo of State Superior Court in Hackensack set bail at $50,000 cash, Molinelli said.

Molinelli said police received a report of the activity on Friday. He said the investigation revealed several other potential victims.

Athletic Director? This guy is a glorified Gym teacher. And every gym teacher that I knew from grade school through high school was an asshole. They should let the kids rat-tail him until he bleeds to death.

I've heard of this guy. I think in the '80's he got a player on his last place basketball team who, all of a sudden, would turn into a werewolf and upon the morphe, would then be a Michael Jordon-caliber werewolf at that. But the player refused to turn into the wolf in the final game and stayed his "regular" self wherein his basketball powers were more akin to John Stockton. Nonetheless, the team still won "The Big Game" and taught us all a moral lesson. Anyway, I think the coach was this guy. Or maybe I am having flashbacks again.
