Ive posted about a possible career in the US Military, and its turned into a catfight, so hopefully this wont.

Basically if i decided i dont wanna continue into a career in television, radio and broadcasting, i wanna fly choppers in the military, cobra's, apaches, black hawks and commanches ya know. So nows where you all get to fight, what force is best suited for this. Navy? Marines? Army? and don't say Air Force....(i have shut them out already...sorry guys.)

Begin the catfight...now.

Look into a career in the Coast Guard. Alot of choppers there. I was an ASM1 (Air Survivalman 1st class) for 4 years doing SAR and had a blast. And you have the satisfaction of knowing that at the end of the day (or night) that you did a good job and possibly saved somone's life!!!!

If you don't mind being at sea you might want to consider the Navy or Marine Corps. I know that helos from destroyers, cruisers, and frigates do mostly anti-submarine warfare as well as special ops.

The Air Force doesn't have helicopters. The Army has the most of them, and you only need to be a warrant officer to fly them.

Actually they do: they're used for air rescue and by the Air Force Special Operations Command.

The Army has the most of them, and you only need to be a warrant officer to fly them.


To be a Warrant officer, you have to spend many years as as an NCO, which means you have to enlist, which means you are at the very bottom.

To be an officer, you need a four year degree and be younger than 26. The Marines would be very good because they are always looking for pilots, but they fly the oldest stuff.

If your willing to wait many many years, join the Army.

The Navy is very good, but living at sea is not for everybody.

The Air Force, if you ask me, is the best choice. Helo pilots fly for special ops and you also have the best facilities on af bases. Check out how marines or army lives, and then check out Andrews. Big Difference.

Whichever branch you choose, dont ever tell them about previous injuries (your hip) because if anything goes wrong before or during your training (Boot camp, ROTC) they will call it pre existing condition and kick you out. If it is not labeled pre existing, you will be allowed time to heal before you resume your training.

Good Luck in whichever branch you choose.
