I know it's been covered many times here, but what are the best and worst concerts you've ever been to?

Bestest
-KISS Reunion tour at MSG. 3rd night
-Guns n' Roses & Metallica Giants Stadium 1992. The one where Axl finished the show.
-Nirvana 1993 Roseland Ballroom
-Pantera 1996 Roseland Ballroom
-Skid Row 1995 Limelight. (Stop laughing)
-Rush 1997 Jones Beach
-Red Hot Chili Peppers 1994 Academy

Worstest

-Metallica 1998 Giants Stadium. Damn unplugged set.
-Helmet, Rollins Band 1994 Roseland (Not a very bad show, just no effort at all put into it)
-OzzFest 1997. Ugh

Best concerts? I went to all four of the American Tibetan Freedom Festivals, so I'd say those just for the band diversity and really cool atmosphere...

I saw in the paper yesterday that Joe Jackson is playing at the Irving Plaza this weekend, I bet he puts on a really good show.

I saw Metallica play at Giants stadium about 3 or 4 years ago and I was never a huge fan of theirs but they put on a ridiculous show, it was awesome.

Here are some more good ones I thought of-

-Lollapalooza 1993- Somewhere in Jersey. Even though I felt that Alice in Chains should've headlined over Primus, it was still a kickass show. An unknown Rage Against the Machine opened the festival.

-Faith No More 1996 Roseland

Best: David Bowie and Trent Reznor, 1995

David Bowie is hands down the best entertainer on
stage. He knocked my socks off on the Serious
Moonlight tour in 1983. Didn't think I'd ever see a
better show until he toured with my personal deity,
Trent.

Worst: Warren Zevon, 1983

I actually fell asleep at this concert, and no, I hadn't
been drinking or anything. It was just that boring.

Good and Bad at the same time: New Order, circa
1990.

Excellent because I just love their (old) music, but at
one point while I was dancing my ass off, pretty sure it
was Blue Monday, I noticed every band member but
Peter Hook had left the stage to get some water or
something while the music just kept going. It pissed
me off that they didn't at least stay there and pretend
to play.

I remember a review of a show of theirs a couple of years before that at Merriwhether Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD in which the reviewer expressed dismay that at one point in the show, during a song, there were no vocals, and no one was even touching an instrument.

Best: Blue Bird Cafe "Grammy Party" @ Bottom Line

Shawn Colvin
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Foster and LLoyd
Joe Ely
Russell Smith
Maura O'Connell
Julie Gold
I'm a sucker for those "writers in the round" things.

Worst:My only big venue experience- Eric Clapton @ Nassau Colisseum (he collapsed on stage the next day in Buffalo)
or
Dwight Yoakam/Buck Owens @ Beacon
I was really looking forward to this but "Dwight didn't like the sound"(which started out pretty good) and cursed out the sound man for the next 90 minutes.(anyone I know who saw Yoakam in this period 1988 -ish had the same report) Buck's "mini-set " was great.

Damn I put dates in and HTML spit 'em back as "Sad"
" editing posts since day one"

Worst / as far as seating was Rolling Stones at RFK in 1980?

the stadium seated about a 100,000, i happen to get seats 99,996 thru 100,000...even with binoculars they looked like ants... the music kicked ass but you didn't feel like part of it...

Best / Grand Funk at The Beacon in 1997...
They had the Bosnia Orchestra backing them up on a bunch of tunes and medleys, and Paul Schaeffer leading the orchestra...ALONG with Grand Funk at the Trump Marina in 1998, our table was against the stage in front of Mark Farner...

That's where I saw them the time they did that; must
have been the same concert.

Rolling Stones - Steel Wheels - It was the 1st time I saw the stones and it was fantastic. Even in the pouring rain the boys played all night.

U2 - Joshua Tree/Zoo TV tours were both excellent

Springsteen - Born in the USA tour he played 4 1/2 hours longest show by a single group I have ever seen. Great Day got home early from the beach, went to a pre party at noon concert started at 7pm we had a group of 20 seats partied all through the show. I had to learn how to drive a stick that night my designatated driver was hammered.

Ramones - Too Tough to Die tour. The Wax Museum (a small club in DC) 1st time I saw the Ramones and they were incredible.

Los Lobos 1984 - How will the wolf survive tour (the bayou) I hung out with the band after the show at the upstairs bar. They had the whole place dancing up a storm.

I can't think of any bad shows.

Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.
Ok let's get the boys back live in NY. Don't give up the fight.

Best:

One For Woody Concert, Sept. 21, 2000 at the Roseland.

Featured Allman Brothers, The Dead, Black Crowes, Artemis Pyle, Leslie West, Little Milton, Dave Schools, and of course Gov't Mule. Warren Haynes is the best gituarist out there today.

Second best was The 2002 Jammies, also at the Roseland.

Featured Rusted Root with Melvin Sparks and John Popper, John Scofield with Andy Hess, Robert Randolph with The Blind Boys Of Alabama, John Mayer (whom I now respect because he can tear it up) with Derek Trucks and Randolph. Particle backing up the B-52's (the most bizarre music scene I ever saw and it was great!), Blue Oyster Cult with moe (second most bizarre - Don't Fear The Reaper through the entrie place in a frenzy). Tom Tom Club, Gov't Mule, Allman Brothers Band, Rat Dog & Trey Anastasio.

For the encore, everyone came out on two stages and egged each other on with a marathon version of Lovelight->Gloria->Lovelight. I still get chills thinking about it.

Worst:
Greenday. They were good, but I just could have sat at home and played their albums real loud.

Enough with the picture signatures.
