FDR was elected 4 times. I know there was an ammendment limiting presidents to 2 terms. Is it that a president can not serve more than 2 terms consecutively? For example Clinton served from 1992-2000 can he run again in 2004?.

Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

I think it says you can only be elected twice.

So, sadly no more Bill in the White House until Hillary makes it.

Yes, you can only be elected twice....also, if you serve more than (I believe) 2 yrs of someone else's term, you're ass out after you get elected yourself once.

I think technically he can run again but you have to be out of office a certain number of years.

This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several states within seven years from the date of its submission to the states by the Congress.

does this mean that if hypothetically GWB is in a second term at some point and the congress is still controlled by the republications that they could make an amendment to give him a third term? im using him as an example since he's the current prez, but if anyone was in a second term and the people wanted the president to serve a third term they could change it?

They would need to make another amendment to the constitution for that to happen. Amendments have to be ratified by the three-fourths of the states (either after passing both houses with two-thirds majority or being brought up in a "constitutional convention," which has never happened).

Nixon actually expressed interest in "fixing" this after he won his second term in such a landslide...NO GOOD.

Term limits are stupid.

Elections ARE term limits. If someone's doing a good job, they should stay if the voters want them. If they suck, they get the "one termer" mark of shame and are forced to do $100,000 speech dinners at Colleges.

Ah, but Moe, you forget, we're morons. Aren't pretty much ALL of the Presidents in the last 35 years proof of that?

Amendment XXII

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice...

This is great news! After all, the Left has been telling us that George W. Bush was not really elected. By their own reasoning then, he should be permitted to run and be elected two more times!

The better question is whether Bush will even make it to a second term.
