View Full Version : Does Sting need WWE?

The rumors have been floating around a lot lately regarding Sting and WWE. A lot of sites and sheets are saying that he'll be in WWE by June. I don't know what the point is at this time. Sting clearly hasn't had his mind in the business for some time now. All this would do for McMahon is give him possesion of the last major name of the last 10 years. Sting is not even close to what he used to be.

In the late 80's and early 90's, he was one of the top babyfaces. He worked a classic program with Ric Flair that featured a 30 minute time limit draw at the inagural Clash of the Champions in Spring 1988. He would later go over Flair for the NWA title in the summer of 1990. Along with the Ultimate Warrior, he represented what seemed to be the future of wrestling for the WWF and NWA. Warrior eventually phased out for the WWF, but Sting always headlined NWA and later WCW up until the very end. I was not a big fan of the Crow gimmick, but it went over with the WCW fans. After his year long ring absence, he wrestled heel champion Hulk Hogan at the much hyped Starrcade 1997. Sting seemed out of shape as he gasped for air and lumbered often during this match. He was made to look horrible by putting over Hogan cleanly before Bret Hart interfered at the end by making the match continue and helping Sting win. But I felt that the damage was done. He later would pop in and out as he pleased because of his newly found faith in Jesus Christ. He would eventually be forced to briefly turn heel in a very unmemorable Vince Russo written angle. He would help close out the WCW chapter by wrestling Ric Flair in the final WCW match ever on Nitro.

His only work since then was working for the upstart WWA with his old friend Lex Luger. Much like Bill Goldberg, Sting has spoke against the ways of vince McMahon very often. By him choosing to work for a man he had very negative thngs to say about, he would be going against his very own beliefs. As a fan, I would have nothing but the most respect for him if he chose to never work for McMahon. He is not exactly an answer to McMahons sinking ship anyway. I just would like to see one big named wrestler who would say NO to Vince McMahon and actually mean it.

I wouldnt be surprised if Vince Signs Sting and Luger

It's obvious that Sting is past his prime. I would like to see him wrestle in WWE, but I'm not gonna keep my hopes high.

Look, you have NO IDEA how big a Sting fan I am. I first start watching wrestling "seriously" in 1992, and Sting was one of the guys who first captivated me. I was always a bigger NWA / WCW fan than I was a WWF/E fan, and for years, Sting was my fave. I love the guy.

I don't care that he's past his prime - I don't want him to come to the WWE because I know they'll just destroy whatever legacy he has left. I don't want what happened to Flair to happen to him. Look what those bastards did to Ric - he's Trips bitch now, and I'm ASHAMED about that, ashamed of the WWE and ashamed of Ric, because HHH isn't fit to wipe the sweat off of Flair's nutsack.

I don't want Sting to come to the WWE, because frankly, when I see them job him out to Undertaker or HHH - and they will - than I will probably break down and cry like a girl. It will be the last, good, pure thing about WCW that Vince has pissed on.

Sting doesn't really need the money WWE could offer him. If he comes back, it will only be because of the love for the industry. No matter how bad the WWE product is. It would be great to see Sting back on television every week, but I am not so sure WWE is right for him. I don't want to see Vince ruin another one of WCW's prime time wrestlers. ala Buff Bagwell, nWo, Hogan, Booker & Steiner to name a few.

Sting needs to be in TNA. Period, end of story.

He doesn't need to be shuffled in the deck known as Raw.... well, Smackdown would be interesting if you think about it.

from www.wrestling-news.com

- Despite all the rumors, it looks like the WWE are not interested in bringing Sting on board. There were talks that Sting may be brought in as the company were placing emphasis on older names such as Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, etc. The general consesus within the company is that Sting has lost a lot of his appeal and charisma.

- Sting has also made it clear that he does not want to work full time anymore, and that is something that doesn't appeal to WWE, as they do not want to hire anymore 'big names' that will not work house shows. There are already a host of big names who do not work house shows including the Rock, Hulk Hogan and more. This is seen as one of the many big reasons why the business has declined so much.

What the hell is with these ego manacs who don't want to do a freakingh house show?!? Honestly, I will only go to a house show to see my favorite wrestlers, the mid-carders. This is where they really get to show off their talents. All though I was surprised to see the Rock show up at the House Show he did before he was supposed to arrive on Smackdown. That's about the only thing he has done. But guys like Steiner, Hogan, and Triple H really piss me off when they are more concerned about air-time then being dedicated to this business. At least Nash and HBK will be doing a six-man tag with BT at the next house show.

For the WWE to say that Sting has lost a lot of his appeal and charisma sounds like their way of covering up him telling them "No". Remember that these are the same people that hired Scott Steiner. Appeal and charisma are secondary to name value. As far as people not working house shows well...Triple H wants to make sure he only gets injured on camera. As for the older wrestlers has anyone considered that they're just tired of that grind? They can't keep up the pace that they did 15 years ago...well Hogan can. I don't care what kind of shape you keep yourself in, the business beats up on you. That having been said I think that Rock should get off his lazy ass and work every house show they have for the short periods of time that he's there I mean shit he's not old, he hasn't been beaten down by his few years in the business it's just laziness on his part. And I honestly hadn't considered that they'd have Sting jobbing to HHH like everyone else has to. I think that would cut me to the core. It's hard enough watching them parade out Ric Flair as HHH's trained monkey as he lends supposed credibility to HHH's claim to be the best in the business. But would Sting remain who he is, or would the WWE eventually make him into a shell of his former self to further cement HHH's legacy? And if so is it worth is just to see him on TV again? Or should we just be content to remember Sting as he was? I don't know but I do know that this is having far too deep and profound an effect on me. I'm gonna go watch some porn and regain my shallowness.

No matter how much you polish, decorate or dress up a turd...it's still a turd.

It's true that house show appeal has gone drastically down in recent years. Take the mecca, Madison Square Garden, for example. Back in the day, an event held here was almost equivilant to a pay per view event now. From the 1970's to probably the mid 1990's, you could almost guarantee that you'd see all of the superstars. This was also due to the fact that the events were always broadcasted live on television (MSG Network later on) and video taped for video use. But the quality of these shows were impressive. At every event you'd see Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Superstar Billy Graham, Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan always defend the world championship title against a different opponent. Who could ever forget Bruno getting his revenge on Stan Hansen or Graham being the first lengthy heel champion or Backlund's classic cage match with Jimmy Snuka or the night Hulkamania was born. These all happened at MSG house shows. the only other venue that came close to the importance of MSG was the Philadelphia Spectrum. (They were also taped and shown in Philly on a regular basis) It wasn't until Spring of 1992 to be exact that the cameras stopped rolling at the Garden. Events then became just another house show after that. But even after that you could always expect a great and entertaining night of wrestling if you went. Even the last MSG event that I went to in 1998 had all the tools of a PPV atmosphere. You had Austin, Taker, Foley, hell even Vince McMahon showed up. But it's such a different time now. You have these ego maniacs that are so worried about a ppv check or a ratings boost that they forgot what got them to the big dance to begin with. House shows now fall dead last on their everchanging list of priorities. And that's a damn shame. It's a shame for anyone who never had the privilage to see a house show during it's peak. All WWE cares about now is PPV buys and ratings.

the only place you can really see him going is NWA-TNA. He would totally be against the whole sEx faction. Just like nWo.
