Depp was the one ORIGINALLY asked to play this role, a good 2,3, maybe 4 years ago.

Cage has been up for Superman, Iron Man, The Punisher, Ghost Rider, Batman, Hellblazer, Captain America and even the flash. He's a massive comic book geek, and always go out of his way to say he's "interested" whenever one of these projects is even hinted at, just to get his name latched on...the closest any of these came to reality was when he was actually cast to play "Hellblazer"'s John Constantine (Who's actually British and his appearnace based on 1980's Sting), but that fizzled out sometime last year, thank GOD...
