From Studio Briefing:

CONSERVATIVES "SHOCKED" BY GIBSON'S DEAL WITH MOORE

The conservative online publication NewsMax has reported that the White House is
shocked by word that Mel Gibson's production company, Icon Productions, has signed
a deal to produce Michael Moore's (Bowling for Columbine) next documentary,
currently titled Fahrenheit 911.

Moore has said that the film will describe "how the Bush administration used [the Sept.
11 attacks] to push its agenda."

Gibson is regarded as a strong Bush supporter.

NewsMax cited a Hollywood insider as saying that the president had "always
considered himself on good terms with Gibson and even invited him to a private
meeting at the White House. He can't expect more White House invites if he's backing
Michael Moore."

******

No, Ralph Nader supporter, Michael Moore, hasn't seen his career benefit from having
a Republican in the White House.

How many (successful) movies did he make during the 8 years of Clinton?

What a hump.

I think this story's hinky.

Especially since Gibson for years has been trying to make an updated version of the Bradbury classic, "Fahrenheit 451."

So either someone's getting the two stories mixed up, or Gibson's production company really isn't paying close attention to titles....

I don't know why you would think they are babies for wanting to take action against a slanderous documentary. It's like saying the President was happy the attacks occurred so he could manipulate the nation. The online "newsmag" mentioned is a radical right-wing rag that I would not consider authorative in any way. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about this article just yet.

I hope Michael Moore gets AIDS.

I'd be upset if someone produced a 1 1/2 to 2 hour movie of lies against me too.

I wouldn't say happy, but 9-11 was simply the impetus for a plan set in motion long ago.

if you cant see the administration is using 9/11 to squash liberty and push a conservative agenda you're in denial or not paying attention.

just look at those rediculous drug ads, that's proof enough

Of course they should be shocked.

"Gibson is regarded as a strong Bush supporter."

Why should they be expecting this?

Substitute "Clinton" for "Bush" and you've got the platform of every Republican who ran for ANYTHING in the last 10 years. Pansies.

I don't recall the Republicans portraying Clinton dancing as around dead US citizens as an enabler for his policies.

Read any of the dozen "Clinton let 9/11 happen!"-books that came out last week. If that's no good, read the other 40 that came out the week before. Everyboy bitches. Everybody whines. Everybody hurts. Suck it up, doughboy.

I'm talking about two different events and people, but both are cases of one side calling the other side's guy ridiculous and outrageous things simply because he's the other side's guy.

No. The first is saying through inaction, 911 occurred. The second is more insidious, saying that Bush is profiting from and using the attacks of 911 as, in essence, another attack on the US. The Clinton example is an "oops, well we didn't know", while the Bush one is "great! now we'll use these dead americans as a tool to destroy american freedom!". One is passive, the other is active. Big difference.

Sounds like you're defending Clinton here...

TheMojoPin

No, because having read parts of or all of some of these books, they paint Clinton as KNOWING how much of a threat Osama posed (Of course, the specifics of 9/11 aren't known, but it's presented that his advisors continually warned that a "massive attack" would happen soon) and purposely choosing not to get him any of the "numerous" chances we had to take him out, simply for the sake of not wanting to upset his already flimsy and weak international standing, thanks to his flimsy and weak international policies throughout both of his terms. Both assumptions basically present both presidents as simply not giving a damn about American lives for the sake of their own politcal goals/aims.

The most retarded part is I'm AGREEING with you and trying to show how these kinds of accusations are unfounded, ugly and ridiculous no matter WHO is saying them or WHO they're being aimed at, Bush included.

911 could occur again tomorrow despite what has been done.

Alright, let's agree that using 911 as a political tool is shitty. Do I blame Clinton for 911? Of course not. He didn't know what would happen. This thing with Bush though makes him out to be manipulative and uncaring about what happens to American freedoms. I don't get that from him, sorry. Of course he is political and does things with an eye on maintaining political power, all presidents do. But to say he used 911 as a enabler for some evil adjenda is disrespectful in my opinion. I give him more credit than that. That's all I am saying Mojo.

It's my opinion that 911 is more likely to happen after all that we've done. since part of what we've done is make the middle east very, very angry at us. If you thought they were pissed before, now that we've overthrown the Iraqi government, and are threatening Syria and Iran, they are going to be furious.

Example: say I hate my next door neighbor because he let his dog shit on my lawn. the landlord comes in and evicts him. Good. Then he looks at me and my other neighbor and says "i don't like the look of you two. you look like bad seeds, and I bet you play your music too loud. I'm going to evict you too." I'm gonna say "fuck the landlord!"

I understand what you're saying Hippie but we've always made the Middle East very, very angry at us. And their major gripe will be our support of Israel.

true, but you know how when you get the Hulk madder, he gets bigger and stronger? That's terrorism. We want to keep the Hulk at the point where it only takes Spidey to beat him, not where we have to call in the other Defenders and get Dr. Strange to put him in a pocket dimension.
