My question has two parts; Part one: Is a shark's nose really hard, like can it ram into the side of a boat like Jaws or is that just TV and the other question is can a shark beat a swimming polar bear and why. I'll hang up now and listen for the answer.

I think a better question is why you have like 30 views and no answers.

I always heard that one way to fight back against a shark is to go for its eyes, gills, or punch it right in the "nose", because it's extra sensitive...I think to do something like in "Jaws", it would actually smash through with the top of its head.

And of course a shark would beat a swimming polar bear. Polar bears swim almost solely as a mode of transport...they do all their killing on land. A shark is made to kill anything in the water. A polar bear would just be extra meat.

As far as the Polar Bear goes I don't know.

The punch in the nose thing is because a shark has no real skeleton, it's all cartalidge. Punching it in the snout supposedly cause it's brain to dislodge or something like that, apparently killing it.

Are there even sharks in the arcitc?

I'm pretty sure there are no polar bears in the middle of the ocean..

No sharks in the arctic. A shark uses its nose as a sensor so it has concetrated nerve endings. If you push on the tip of its nose while its comin up it will fall backwards. Dont know why but the nose controls balance and you through it off

When I was in the service, one of the courses we had to take was water survival. They taught us how to "survive" a shark attack. That was- kicking them in the snout as they came at you-funny- all the pictures I ever seen of sharks attacking-they always have their mouths wide open about 10 feet away-shit-I'd just be putting my foot in HIS mouth!! No thank you very much sir!!!!!

Part One - A shark's nose is not very hard, b/c it is not composed of bone, but rather cartillage. On the other hand, a shark's teeth are very sharp and powerful. Try to avoid getting near them.

Part Two - A shark would most likely easily defeat a polar bear in the water - if they are indeed indigenous to the same local (I don't think they are). On land, my money is on the bear.

On land, an ant could kick a squid's ass.

A shark over a swimming polar bear? Not unless it's a retarted shark with super shark retard strength.
