To be honest, once you have "Russia" and the self-titled, you're set. I mean, this is one of my favorite bands of all time, but those albums are just so perfect, it puts all the rest to shame and makes them all sound repetitive. Just get those two and the bitchin' two-disc anthology Rhino put out a couble years ago...

Do you have the remasters yet Mojo. I picked up 4 from BMG and they have extras on them. On Pleasant Dreams there is a song called Chop Suey.
I had never heard it before. It is a mix of B52's, Go Go's, and Beach Boys. I think the two girls from the B52s are back up singers. It is a fun song.
I was just wondering what everyone's favorite albums were. There seems to be a lot of Ramones fans out here, but I think they changed from Too Tough to Die and later. In the beginning it was more 50's 60's music sped up with funny lyrics.
I still remember back in 77 or 78 when my brother came home from college with a copy of Rockets to Russia and I was hooked.
Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.

I picked up the "Russia" re-master last week and was pretty impressed. The sound quality is noticeably better, and there are just like 5 extra tracks...as much as I love da bruddas, they're not a band that lends themselves to having a disc or more worth of extra tracks...

I'm in agreement with the Mojo.

I would still say pick up Pleasant Dreams it is a solid album. If you belong to BMG you get it pretty cheap. They also have the anthology album for 10.00 plus shipping. At least that is my deal this month. Ramones Mania is worth picking up if you want a solid best of album.
I had all of their albums up to Too Tough to Die on vinyl and now I am replacing them on CD.

The Ramones are best short and sweet, period. Think about it...they're the LAST band you want ruining classic albums with halfassed demos and b-sides...the original stuff is perfect already.

I was just trying to be profound. You know what I like.Mojo is right. To quote some board member from some old post:
"It was down hill for the Ramones after Phil Spector got done with them".
Production value increased 10 fold but the "garage band" sound we all knew and loved wasn't there anymore.
You have to know what was going on back then.Super Groups were more worried about jet-setting,filling arenas, and playing with 70 piece orchestras.
Six or eight "Rock" bands probably launched Disco by shunning 10's of thousands with "high-brow' rock.(Have you ever tried dancing to " You and I " by Yes?).
The Ramones were a breath of fresh air in '76.
(after all how many kids in a basement or garage said to themselves..."I can do that").
And that's exactly what happened.Mostly in England but just ask Glen Danzig or Jerry Only,Brian Setzer or Debby Harry.
"We need change and we need it fast,
before Rock's just part of the past.
And lately it all sounds the same to me."
.....and boy did it until those guys came around.
Jafter!....My picks would be as follows:
1) Rocket to Russia
2) Leave Home
3) Ramones
4) Road to Ruin
5) End of the Century
