has anyone used ameridebt or any other debt consolidation program? every other commercial on tv and radio advertises this. any pro/cons?

Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

i've never used it or anything like it. however, i don't trust any commercials that i've heard on WNEW ever.

what i did, and it was the best thing i could have done. was to join my company's credit union. i don't know if you have that available to you, but it's great because you can have part of your pay diverted into a savings account. for me it was so automatic that i didn't have to do anything, i hardly missed the money and within time i had saved up enough money to clear lots of bills. today i'm practically debt free one year later.

i started out with $25 per week, eventually i increased it but do whatever you can and you'll see it adds up.

Ameridebt is a ripoff. Don't do it.

Although there are some debt consolidation programs that actually help, the majority of them leave you in a bigger hole than you're in now. You pay them a smaller amount for a MUCH longer time period, w/interest compounded on the unpaid balance and it often becomes a cycle you can never escape.

Always consult the Better Business Bureau and even Consumer Reports before joining one of these programs. It's a good idea to look for some newsgroups where people express their good and bad experiences with a particular company.
