Hey Buddies,
I just wanted to clear up a few things about our "Bring Ron and Fez Back To NY" campaign.
First of all, it's NOT over. Although this forum appears to be dead there are many fans, including "The Capos," who have not given up. There are also many listeners that don't post on the board that contact me on a daily basis, asking how they can help.
The goal here is simple: We want to let Infinity Broadcasting know that we want R&F back on the air in New York City. It may not be feasible at this time but we must try to regain the momentum we had back in the fall. We had press, we flooded Infinity with letters and postcards and rang their phones off the hook. If we want R&F back in NYC we must regroup and start it again.
This is NOT about "Blink," it never was. The loyal diehards who protested at the launch party wanted to get the attention of Viacom/Infinity "Suits" who were in attendance that evening. Kudos to those who stood outside and made their voices heard.
Before you dismiss all of this and say "it's over" just remember: corporations like Viacom DO pay attention to what you, the consumer is saying. One letter or call DOES make a difference.
Nothing in radio programming is ever written in stone. Our efforts to bring R&F back to NYC is a long term goal. Yes, it's true that Infinity really has nowhere to put the show, except for the longshot possibility of K-Rock. We are talking "future considerations" here, and we must NOT GIVE UP!
If you are truly interested in helping out, please feel free to e-mail me and I will add your e-mail address to the "Capos" list. Send your e-mail address to BringBackRnF@aol.com. We are not giving up.
Regards to all, and thanks,
Heck

Not good when we have teeny bopper mods like Gwen who listen to blink. :p

Bring R&F to Texas! Thanks for all the work you do Heckler, we appreciate it. I'll be in contact with you very soon.

I had a dream the other day that Ronny and Fezzy came back September 17th. No shit, I really had that dream.

...................I also proclaimed myself "The Waffle God" and lived in a toaster in the same dream but, shit, who's really counting. September 17th.

............I'm going to lunch.

I really hate to be the Nancy Negative here, but I feel that the dream is over. Lets face it, the only real shot that Ron and Fez have of landing here in NYC is if we get someone to bust up the new trust that is corporate strangleholds obver radio stations. And that is not going to happen. So while that legend still lives, the dream of bringing Ron and Fez back to NYC is that much slimmer.

I mean the chance is there they may get a shot at say a 770AM, but I really dont see it happening. To be honest, we wont really see anything till the fall of 2004, when we maybe see a revival in talk radio. I was a huge O and A, and Ron and Fez fan, but when O and A's ship crashed so did Ron and Fez's. As did the whole genre of talk FM Radio. And until Big Bird steps down there will continue to be a stranglehold on radio...We can dream, but I have become that much of a pessimist that I will say "Ill believe it when I hear it". Sorry for taking down the tone there, but that is the way that I see it.

Not true Nancy.
Radio and programming in general are as unpredictable as the weather. And as for WABC: they are not an Infinity station and R&F are not WABCs kind of show.
Again, nothing is ever written in stone, especially in radio. The main point is that we continue to let Infinity know that we want them back here, it's that simple. It may not happen right away but who knows?
Saying "the dream is over" is a bit premature.
I have worked in the music and radio industry since the 80's and trust me, I have seen some crazy things. Let's just try to stay positive and keep the "Ron and Fez Buzz" going.
It's an uphill battle for sure, but it's not over yet. Remember, YOU are the consumer. Your opinion counts.

I received this e-mail from another mailing list and though it appropriate to post here. I apologize if it's already posted on another thread; but the way I see it the more it's read the better.

I have received an email from the "Capos" list that was sent by the listener "Heckler". I am going to copy and paste it to all the members just in case you would like to participate. I am not asking anything from the members, just thought it can't hurt to relay an insider's E-mail.

Buddies,
The battle rages on, and thanks to all of our new friends who contacted me offering to help out. Welcome to all!

As things stand now it seems that the most logical thing to do is pressure K-Rock to carry R&F, so let's all call Steve Kingston, the Director of Programming at K-Rock and "suggest" adding R&F to his wonderful station.

Mr. Kingston can be reached at 212 314-9282. Let's call him this Friday, May 2nd.
Please remember to be polite when calling, we don't wanna piss him off. And as usual, if you get the "run-around," ask to leave a message. It wouldn't hurt to mention that you are a K-Rock listener. Please forward this to all of your fellow R&F fans, friends, family members, coworkers, ANYONE with a phone! Let's send them a message and keep their phones ringing on Friday!

Feel free to contact me if you have any comments or suggestions.

KEEP HOPE ALIVE!
Regards to all,
Heck

For being the #1 market, New York radio sucks. Aside from R & F and O & A, there is nothing worth listening to.

Now we have NOTHING!!!

See Ya, DrewP
