Yesterday the boys had a discussion on the soldiers taking the money they found in Iraq.

I've talked about this with people and I was get either a "It's right" or "It's wrong".

Ron is for it. Rory is against it.

Personally, I would take a bundle. Just one stack of bills. Call it compensation. I wouldn't get greedy like the 12 million they tried to take (not too bright), but like Ron said, if there was $500 on Saddam's dresser, I'm pocketing it.

What do you think?

Enough with the picture signatures.

I agree with Rory in that it isn't really the right thing to do, but if I was in the same situation, I would probably take the money. I can't blame those guys for doing something that they didn't think would hurt anyone.

Call it compensation.

you know what I call compensation? The $40k for college and salary you'd receive for being there. The deal you agreed to. If the President wants to give you a bonus, fine. but don't just take it upon yourself.

Just a bundle? why not bump it up to priceless art. You're not being greedy, greed is a relative term.

Hi. This is America. We don't loot and pillage.

I call it compensation for fighting Bush's oil war.

And no, we don't loot. Only when we lose courtcases deemed racial and sport chamionships. (No, not all but it has been done).

Most of the kids over there come from poor familes who had little choice but to enlist. A little cash from a madman doesn't hurt.

Bumping it up to art and paintings? C'mon - they're hard to hide with your gear. Leave that up to certian newsmedia.

I don't remember it ever being considered acceptable behavior for our military. I'm young, so do you remember a time?

Soldiers taking a little here and there has always existed...it's expected loss, and you can't really stop guys tossing a few bills or items in their pockets. But 12 million? Even just A million? Just because it's dollars doesn't make it "our" money. These guys should get the full weight of the law down on them.
