I'm registered as a Republican. But as any non-democrat'll tell you, voting other than Dem in NY usually means you lost. So how about this, I change my party affiliation to Democrat. This way I can vote in their primaries and promote the most useless of the democratic candidates. The one most likely to lose to a republican candidate.

Is this wrong?

I know how you feel -- I was a registered Republican in CT's 3rd District, the District of Columbia, and now Virginia's 8th: all Democratic strongholds.

Although thanks to Jim Moran's anti-Semetic comments, the 8th may go Republican.

don't worry about it. Just vote your heart and mind and not worry about strategy

The only problem with voting for the other party is that you run the risk of your favorite candidate losing the primary. It's not a problem when a president is running for re-election, but what happens when two weaker candidates end up winning primaries? Could you imagine a a Bradley vs. Forbes 2000 election?

I hate the Backstreet Boys, and it pisses me off that one of my favorite new bands, Idlewild, gets so little airplay. So to counter that, I'm going to...buy Backstreet Boys' albums?!?! What th-?!?

We don't register parties here. I've voted in Republican primaries when the democratic one wasn't in doubt. It's kind of cool. I vote for the one I hate least though. I get mailings from all the Republicans now so at least I get the satisfaction that they wasted their 3 or 4 pennies on me.
