banana seat i found to be much more comfortable the the saddle type seat of today. when i was growing up the only bikes that came w saddle seats were the ten speed bikes.all other stingray type bikes came w banana seats and if you were real lucky a sissybar . this is before the influx of bmx and mountain bikes.

All bikes with a banana seats have a sissy bar (the part that holds up the back of the seat). What's hard to find is the big sissy bars. The one's the the rise about 3 feet above the seat. Now those are cool.

Banana seats were definitely more comfortable. We all was considered sissy bars the long bars on the back not the normal low back.

I remember getting my bellbottoms stuck in the chain all of the time. Nothing worse then getting your pants caught in the chain. Or the hole chain coming off.

Remember when baseball cards were for fun and not profit. Putting them in your spokes to sound like a motor.

Then you had the guys who customized there bikes.

Steering wheels instead of handle bars.
Chopper forks in the front.

Many of the "Stingray" bikes came fully loaded. I made my own with the banana seat, sissy bar, a radio/light in the front and a raccoon's tail hanging off the sissy bar, along with reflectors. I think I had a 3 speed shifter when the gear thing got popular.

These seats STINK! They should be banned from ever being put on Bikes again... they hurt sooo much...

but then again I don't really ride bikes anymore, so I don't care if kids get pains in their asses due to the banana seats... so I guess we can keep them.. why put soo many people out of a job because I don't like the way the seat feels... I'll take one for the team on this one.

thought they were okay...
you could get 3 people on the bike sometimes, two on the banana seat and one on the handlebars...
just had to have some strong legs...

Well back in the day, my first bike was the the spirit of 76 bike made by Ross. It had the banana seat, and was red white and blue, and had the red white and blue streamers on the handle bars. It was a cool bike, that is until 2 years later, if you didnt have a mongoose bike, you might as well walk then face the ridicule.

Spreading nasal joy like I was johnny appleseed or maybe its because I keep hacking up grannie smiths.... chewy, gooey fun.
