So many people say...I like the old stuff...I wish they would go back to that...
The fact is, bands change and improve and mutate over time. The band members change and so does the dynamic of the musical process.
So with that said...ARe you a fan of Pre Mother's Milk albums or post...there is a clear delinneation of their musical styles from that point on.
Personally I like to listen to the entire range of music...Fan of the early punk stuff to the new songs on By The Way. But Blood Sugar Sex Magik remains my favorite album of all time...no matter what genre of music.

when you love a band you find the good in "everything" they do...
i pretty much like anything the Peppers have put out...
even though it sounds like sometimes the lead singer has a slight lisp...

when a band gets progressively worse, it tarnishes their old stuff for me. like a once-proud champion race horse, you send it to the glue factory when it goes lame. all of it.

I'd have to say PRE because nothing still comes close to Uplift Mofo party Plan to me yet.

Post. Never liked the old stuff. Their last album was great this new album doesn't sound good so far. Track 14 is kinda cool.

I would have to say post Blood Sugar as that was most definitely their peak. Mother's Milk was an amaing record but with BSSM they just went over the top. Not to mention the live show.
I cannot handle this latter day Wilco-esque tripe that is trying to be passed off as the Red hots. For a minutew there I thought they were going back a bit but the drivel on the new record makes me want to vomit.

Them's fightin' words...Well maybe the -esques are tripe but not my Wilco.
BSSM was my first RHCP album but I find myself listening to Californication most these days.

Not trying to start a fight at all as I would most definitely get my ass kicked but I don't know, something with Wilco and the new era Chili's always struck me as strangely odd. I have heard Wilco in a while so maybe I may need a refresher.
My buddy bought the new Chili's and was really hopeful because By The Way is really deceiving and was a bright spot on how the record may sound. He almost got sick after listening to the rest of it. Although, he did say it it really well written and played but should just be under a different name if that makes ANY sense.

i hate the old stuff.i think the new stuff they've been doing over the past 2 albums gives them much more room to be creative.

"Mother's Milk" and onwards...I can't stand the first three. Fishbone is one of my absolute favorite bands of all time, and the first three RHCP just seem like bad, white boy, wannabe versions of the mighty 'Bone.

Sometimes I feel like post MM is better, but then I'll put on an album like Freaky Styley and like the old stuff again. Though I can say that with the last few albums I've liked pretty much everything about them as opposed to the older albums where some songs I didn't care for as much as others. By The Way and Californication I like everything about, and about 90% of One Hot Minute. It's all good, but the newer stuff seems much better and refined to me. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is also one of my all-time favorite albums as well.
