I remember when R&F first came to WNEW. I work days, so there is no way I could listen to the late night show. I remember when the promos first announced "Ron and Fez.com". Without having heard the show, I tried to figure out what the show was like. I thought to myself, What the hell is this? Are these guys trying to be like Click and Clack, or whatever the damn Car Talk guys are? Is this a show with dorks talking about partitioning their hard drives and RAM speed? It seemed like a stupid idea to me. Again, I had never heard the show.
Eventually O&A started mentioning Ron and Fez and the buzz started to build. Still never got to listen to the show, them the promos came. "Ronnie, I want you to spread my asses as wide as you can." "Did you say ashes or asses?" And my interest was piqued.
At long last, they moved to middays. The first day at noon I was there and wasn't sure what to expect. When they first came on that day things seemed a little forced, as they naturally must be so they can introduce the basic topics of the show. I gave them a week and grew to love them. Now I can't imagine not having them on my radio.
And now they're going back to nights. Granted, not as late as they were on before, but still, this is going to throw my workday into turmoil. I don't know if I'll be able to listen to them at 7, since it is impossible to listen to WNEW at 7 currently because of the bore-fest on now. I'll try my hardest.
Thanks for everything Ron and Fez. True originals and extremely entertaining.
