"In this business, I've learned never say never," Austin told WWE.com. "But I would say probably 99.9 percent out of 100 that you'll never see Rock and Stone Cold in the ring again."

Asked why he was so confident that he'd never battle The Rock again, Austin said, "I'm not wrestling anymore. That was my last match." http://www.wwe.com/news/headlines/1218108

In the wrestling business "Never say Never"

Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

This is way over due. I've hated Austin since he set foot in the WWF rings. He's just a brawler who can bleed every once in while and has a high tolerance for beer, big deal.

I'm sure he'll be back. He's too busy beating his wife.

And so it goes....

the trinity fades into the sunset, rather than going out in a blaze of glory. And this retirement caps the greatest run in the WWF's history, lest there be any dispute. It's really over now, the party is over, turn off the lights, it's time to go home.

Mick Foley plays with his kids with a scrambled brain, a blown knee, a few extra pounds, but dignity.

Rocky Maivia heads off to Tinseltown to probably ultimately have a middling career and be known as a poor man's Vin Diesel(not a bad way to live life, as he'll probably be rich beyond his dreams)

And one of the pioneers of attitude, as a man who started the new era(I"m going to give appropriate co-credit to Paul Heyman for trailblazing with ECW), but Stone Cold Steve Austin retires from active duty. Since Owen Hart's bad piledriver, we had 6 years of on and off glory that can only be considered gravy, since this could have easily been going on then. But Austin thrilled us, and it's hard to see the forest through the trees sometimes, and there has been much backlash thrown Austin's way. Probably not malicoius, he surely never wore out his welcome the way Hogan did at the end. But he bore the frustration of a fading era. From a time when the WWF wasn't the hottest thing in Wrestling or even mainstream media, but in 50 years of mulitple promotions, of none being better ever in history(perhaps some were AS GOOD, but never better). Foley's going off the cage, Rocky Sucks, Austin 3:16, Choppy choppy the pee pee, no chance in hell, suck it, the loose cannon, Screw you Austin, Oh you didn't know, your ass better call somebody, puppies, Mr. Socko, the Ho-Train, the Most Dangerous Man in the World, the 9th wonder of the world, I am not a nugget, and so we could go on. Such a fun time, unrivaled, and most of us who still watch are chasing that ghost of those times. Waiting for some reignition of those flames that burned so hot.

Hopefully, this will be the rock bottom petering out that the WWF(I still refuse to recognize this new company) needs to relaunch itself back to such heights. We all know that it's cyclical, but it doesn't hurt any less when a cycle ends.

Godspeed Stone Cold, thanks for some great memories. There are plenty of sumbitches with some big black boots to fill, and we have yet to see if they can be filled at all.

I do hope somehow, someway, the greatest series in Wrestling history takes one more bow, one more curtain call at Wrestlemania 20 next year, and right in the middle of Madison Square fucking Garden, we see Rock vs. Austin IV at Wrestlemania, and for the hell of it, lets see Foley referee. Have it end with both men landing their finishers and then shaking hands and call it a draw. Let Austin, Rock and Foley all raise hands in the middle of the ring and lets give them once last NYC smark sendoff for their incredible service and the great joy they've all sent our way in the last few years.

And please don't send HHH out to follow them with his annual win. Let that bastard sweep the lockerroom up that night, and let the legends who got out with gas in the tank take their final bow.
