I thought it was awesome and has some real potential, much moreso than anything else the Fed has going on right now. Kind of reminds me of the "Summer of Love" when Dude Love debuted during the typically off months. For a quick shot, ending at Summerslam, and keep him out of the ring, this should be a lot of fun, watching Hogan driver Piper and Vince up the wall. I mean, the Giant Machine was somewhat believeable, the Midnight Rider was obviously Stardust, but they did show as little face and body as possible. This is just insane. You see like half of Hogan's face, but it's still funny to hear him saying "I"m not Hulk Hogan brother". And you had to mark out for "Real American" being played, even if he was in that ridculous getup instead of the proper red and yellow. Great nostaglia there!

And there was always the possibility that he could have come back as "Hulk Machine", a character he briefly appeared as when I believe the machines were wrestling six man matches against Bundy, Studd and The Brain. I would have popped for some serious continutity points there, but in the wake of the national mood, this is pretty sweet. There was also Piper Machine, Junkyard Machine and a few others (Dragon machine?).

And I must also give props for pairing O'Haire with Piper. I've devolved into a very casual WWF fan these days, it's far from the can't miss TV it was, and I certainly didn't watch the Russo era WCW and beyond. So I never really had a reason to care about O'Haire, but now I do. Putting him with Piper will make him a star, and help both guys out. Hopefully being the blueprint for how and what a "Hall of Famer" can contribute. Good stuff there.

I actually will be tuning in next week to see what happens with this angle.

WWE lost me about this time last year. I was a HUGE nWo and Hollywood Hogan fan (the brief return stint) and after Wrestlemania the shows took a nosedive. After hearing word of Piper & the Pit coming back I tuned in, loved it. Now for the first time in a year I am genuinely interested to see how all this pans out.

This shit may have flown when I was 6, but not now. This is the worst crap I've seen in a long time. we went from regularly seeing Benoit, the gurreros, team angle, Kurt, Edge, Mysterio, and even Rhyno.... to MR. America, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Big Show, A-Train, Snuka, Cena and Brock....

...my god, wrestling is really starting to really, really, suck again; and I mean on a Doink, Skinner, Men on a Mission level... I knew this would happen when WCW and ECW died.....

My patience for this shit is waning...

I should add, the only off-putting thing to me was the similarity to the final Blue Blazer mask and character. And not to mention the longshots of coming out in the feather boas was the spitting image of Owen. I think I might go with a red or a white mask next time out, just to avoid the imagery.

I'm sorry, I know I'm supposed to hate it, but I too was thoroughly entertained. I figured they'd be trying to hide it was Hogan for a while, make it a real mystery. (baggy outfits, disguised voice, whatever) But, the fact that it was so over-the-top obviously Hogan, and that he kept playing the part even when "caught" was friggin' hysterical. It was pretty well done.
I agree that watching Mr. America drive Vince and Roddy nuts should be a lot of fun, at least for a while.
