What do koalas symbolize?

I know in dreams everything is about symbolism and I had this dream the other that that confused the hell out of me, which are most of my dreams. I've just never had one like this before.

Me and my dad were going to his apartment(which was nothing like where he really lives of course) and as we were driving there were hundreds and hundreds koalas running around loose. They were all running around in tall, very green grass that we were driving through. We went to my dad's place to call the police but no one knew the phone number. We didn't want to call 9-1-1 because we didn't think it was "that kind of an emergency"

like no matter what i either wake up just before its about to happen, something happens in the dream that intterupts it, or i get woken up in real life by whatever.

and thinking back to the koalas...i think later on in the dream more cars were driving down that green grass path and i think i woke up before any koalas actually got hit...no wait, i think actually a few did get hit. :(

Some of these posts are very funny, as are some of the symbolisms attached to that website. Some read like a horroscope, equally applicable to all.

As a word of caution however, dream symbolism and interpretation is very difficult unless you have at least an idea of the individual's life circumstances.

Here's what I see in your dream:

1. Of primary significance is that you and your father were together, heading towards a apartment that no doubt represents your ideal of where he should be living.

2. Koalas in and of themselves aren't the central part of the dream. I believe they represent a drastic change in life circumstances, as koalas are exotic animals found only in Australia. The changes I'm refering to here specifically include a new job, a decision regarding school, thoughts or wishes to move from your present living arrangements, or perhaps thoughts of getting (or dumping) a boyfriend.

3. Running around signifies chaos and b/c of these life changes there is plenty of chaos (and transition) in your life, even if you haven't yet consciously realized it. The hundreds of animals may represent a feeling of being overwhelmed by a slew of problems.

4. On a related and important note, you and your dad were driving and able to escape the chaos. When you reached your destination you realized that the chaos was not as threatening as it first appeared to be.

This is a very positive dream.
