I've been watching FOX News to see on Hannity and Colmes the reaction of the crowd at the 1st show of the Dixie Chick's summer tour.

And all I hear is that their concerts are selling out and they are cheered.

There were a few protestors with some anti-Chick signs outside but they seemed to be a very small crowd. Even a rival concert who would give you a free ticket for your Dixie Chicks ticket couldn't stop their show.

So I guess whatever you thought about their comments, they won. It seems to have just created a buzz around them that their true fans didn't care about. In fact, it may have drawn new fans to them.

America has spoken and they don't care what the Chicks said. Long live Democracy.

I'm really starting to like that Landslide song. Yeah I'm slow. It's only a matter of time till the lead singer goes off on her own endevour(sp?).

Actually, Lennon was eventually forced to confront the controversy his statement started, and apologized. A complete apology.

The Dixie Chicks just said they were sorry people got upset, but not for the statement. They seemed mildly retarded.

But again, this is America and Americans have spoken. They don't care about the statement. Maybe they even support it. You won't catch me at their concerts though, and I would let my friends know my opinion if it came up.

He apologized essentially for any CONFUSION the statement may have caused, or if it was taken the wrong way, but not the statement itself...he was very clear that he thought he was right, and really, he was. It was in regards to the issue of the Church of England's declining popularity at the time, and he was commenting on it by basically saying, "the BEATLES are are probably more popular than Jesus with these British kids...what's up with THAT?!?" Leave it to the idiot Bible Belt to take things the wrong way...talk about people that need a little "shock & awe"...

It seems to have just created a buzz around them that their true fans didn't care about. In fact, it may have drawn new fans to them.

I actually brought up in the other Dixie Chicks thread (in the political folder) that this went all the way around from people complaining about what they had to say, to THEM (the Chicks) making this into a much, much larger issue than it really was in order to gain massive exposure. I said it before, I'll say it again: Madonna could only wish she had this much exposure for her recent anti-American music video.

They did nothing wrong, and the whole idea of punishing Americans for exercising the very freedom that makes America such a wonderful country in the 1st place, is truly retarded.

But on the same token, it's not retarded to criticize someone for saying something of bad taste - which is what the lead singer did.

Unless someone here wants to correct me by saying that insulting the President during a time of war from OUTSIDE the country is actual good taste.

Hot country chicks can be superb!
I have relatives that farm way way out in the sticks and to this day when I visit they view me as some sorta sophisticated urbane exotic delicacy.
Of course I've taken advantage of the situation and banged a lovely first cousin several times.
Since my visits are only a week or so, it's in and out, no muss, no fuss; no strain, no pain.
