RonFez.Net Softball 2003 season [Archive]

Ok folks, you knew it was coming... Softball, beer, bbq, and fun.
We are planning two dates this year, one in June, one in
August.

The June game is June 28 at noon in Amityville, NY,
on Long Island. We're waiting on the city council to secure the
exact date, but we do have a field. Special thanks to the
Chairman for getting us the field. Directions will be posted
closer to game day.

August is the 16th in Rockland County, NY. For those who were
at the X-Mas Party, it is near there.

And I have an idea to make CZM be able to steal a base....hang a hotdog on a pole and dnagle it in front of him...he made one hell of a 50 yard dash for the BBQ pit <for lack of a better word>. His hitting improved also!

sounds like fun..even though last year i showed up towards the end and took lots of shots of blackhaus and made sure angelamy was intoxicated, played with little lenay, look at silera's ass, and watch people on the slip and slide.

oh yeah and inkgrrl laid out on the bench a little drunk and past out..and rev and creepy looking hot and stuff (especially creepygirl) and sheepy being a big teddy bear and meeting a bunch of people i never met before and and and umm did i mention silera's ass??

i'm afraid to say but yes..and only cause you asked i'm be a little more specific
bank account= $-22
current check= $20.68 (i get paid 2.13 plus tips but this check period was when i was in the hospital for 10 days and the other 4 shifts i had in that 2 week period were really slow and shitty)

i owe my brother 50 bucks and my sister 50

i do have 200 bucks coming to me that my friend owes me but he's avoiding me even though he keeps tellingme he'll give it to me next pay period and we work together and so i know when he gets paid and we agreed he give me 100 this past tuesday and 100 twow eeks after that..i can't get ahold of him. i'm trying to be accomadating

i have a credit card in collections and my gateway bill due, also a cell phone that was in my name but was my exboyfriends from 3 years ago..apparently is now in collections..478 dollars..he's in buffalo and small claims can't collect judgement out of state..my own fault

oh yeah and i got suspended from work this week so i can't make any tips cause they screwed me on saturday, i called out for the first time on sunday and on monday they told me they know i had went out the night before cause that's what someone told them and they didn't think i was really sick and just didn't want to come in..i absolutely didn't go out and i wasn't feeling well and i can't believe they are saying that shit..so i'm suspended for a week..

and i really want to go see rory tomorrow for his birthday party they're having at his place but i can't afford gas all the way up to LI

okay a lot more specific..and i can't believe i just typed all that i guess i must have really needed to vent about that. sorry

I'll bring a couple of bats, and bases (I'll try to get ones that rise off the dirt more than 1/2 inch this year)...and regulation balls that aren't like those god-forsaken Clinchers that come at you like egss or the other ball that was so stone-solid it took wicked bounces (i.e.: into Gina's chin).

I brought catcher's gear & a big umpire's chest protector last year but it went unused, so I'll skip it this year unless someone feels it's needed.

Some info about Amityville and the Field:

The field is new, lit, and on the beach. Plenty of parking and bathrooms. I'm working on where the BBQ/food will be set up.

The field is 5 minutes from the LIRR train station - Babylon branch, Amityville stop. It is a one hour train ride from NY Penn Station. It would be a 20 minute walk to the field but I'm sure we can arrange some type of shuttle service.

The field is also about an hour drive from NYC.

The field is on the same street as the Amityville Horror house. Yes it exists...

My neighbor accross the street played ball with Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig in the early 1930's when they were barnstorming here in NJ. He has the team picture to prove it. It was one of the few years the Yankees didn't make the World Series.

Two problems with that:

We have enough problems finding and arranging a field here in NY. If someone in DC wants to do the scouting and reserving, you can contact me privately.

Our NY userbase severly outnumbers our DC userbase. That means we have to worry about transportation and lodging for a majority of those who would be coming out to play.

Yes, it does exist BUT:
#1 - the windows that looked like eyes have since been replaced
#2 - the address has been changed from the one in the book, for obvious reasons
#3 - the people who live there now have no desire for visitors/curiosity seekers and claim to have no disturbances.

Oddly enough, it is NOT the most haunted house in America. . . that dubious honor goes to the Winchester Mansion out in CA.

You probably shouldn't have told me that, considering the fact that I was so frightened by the book, I became physically ill.

I also got sick when the DeFeo (?) guy was up for parole about 10 years ago. . .I don't know if I believe anything happened, but I did get scared and sick from reading about it.

I agree, Moe, especially considering it's been a novel, a movie serial, a TV series, mentioned on every single damned TV haunted house special as well as in every single American Haunted Houses-type guide. . . AND been investigated by my childhood idol Hans Holzer.

I remember when we lived in West Babylon my brother would go down to the house and goof around in there. For a long time they would have cops sitting in front of the house. Is that little strip mall still there across from the High School with the spray painted sign "Amity Hoax with a big arrow" pointing down the street.

Is the field at the end of that street on the water. I have only been down that block once or twice.

If I can make it I may try and come up depends what is going on around here. My aunt and uncle live in Farmingdale right up rt 110 from Amityville. It would be cool to meet you guys and go back home for the weekend.

We need everyone to keep spreading the word about Ron and Fez. Get you friends, coworkers, hell anyone you talk to get them to listen.

I dont add anything to my burgers, str8 out of the box and onto the grill. Same goes for what else I cook. I hate it when people dedice on what I should have on MY food just because they're cooking it. In exception to steaks, chicken, and a few other things. If there's enough intrest, I make a really good Turkey and Vegetable chilli. Just to have something different Im sure the intrest will be large. You can put me down for a few turkey burgers

Hamburger is ground meat. A little seasoning, maybe. Nothing more, nothing less. No eggs, no breadcrumbs, no cheese in the meat. Fresh ground beef, made into the perfect patty by Joe, my friendly butcher.

Get the fire hot.

A *LITTLE* Lawry's seasoning salt and a *LITTLE* garlic powder on top. Do not have the seasonings over power the meat... just to sear into the top while cookjing.

Four minutes one side, flip, two minutes the other.

Do NOT touch the burgers at all while cooking.

Serve. Sliced onions, tomatoes, pickles, hot sauce.

Nevermind that I can't reply to threads when using Safari; I
can't post NEW threads regardless of the browser I use, so I'm
posting these here. :( hopefully at some point I'll be able to post
new threads again or someone else can put these into a new
topic so they're easily seen/found....anyhow

RONFEZ.NET SOFTBALL 2003 - getting there

The softball game is being held at the Amityville Village Beach.
The directions are as follows. I am assuming that you can get to
Long Island on your own, but I'll leave a couple of notes on that
lower down.

BY CAR:

If you're on the LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY or the NORTHERN
STATE PARKWAY going east:
Take it to the MEADOWBROOK PARKWAY SOUTH (there are
signs. From the LIE, they will direct you to get on the Northern
State for a short distance and then the Meadowbrook)

Take the SOUTHERN STATE PARKWAY EAST exit
Take the AMITYVILLE/RTE. 110 SOUTH exit (32S, I think) - and
get on to 110 South (when you get off at the exit, you gotta
take the little curve that goes left and make the right turn on to
110 south, rather than go straight, which takes you past the
korean church) Take RTE 110/Broadway South until it ends
(this takes you through the trailer parks of scenic North
Amityville, and the gazebo of Amityville proper - about 5
minutes). Amity Harbor Sports will be directly in
front of you when 110 ends.
Take a LEFT turn onto MERRICK ROAD.
Take a RIGHT at the first light (BAYVIEW AVENUE). There will be
a Chrysler dealer on your right.
Take Bayview to the end; the park is there. I don't think we
know which field (there are two of them there and we need to
clarify; they're both equally nice) it is yet but I'll post that later
when we find out for sure)

If you live in a nearby town, you're probably familiar with the
area already, however - you can take sunrise highway(27) to
Bayview Avenue directly - it is at the corner where home depot/
target/red lobster are and then take Bayview all the way to the
shore.

BY TRAIN: Take the LIRR Babylon Branch to AMITYVILLE from
Penn Station or wherever you happen to be getting on. You can
get a schedule[url=" http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/lirr/html/ttn/
avl_main.htm "]here[url].
We might try to arrange a carpool or perhaps a van from a taxi
service - I figure if the majority of people get there around the
same time, we can arrange to meet the trains, and people can
arrange to meet on the first car of the train or whatever and
party on the way. You could theoretically walk from the train if
you want; it will probably take about half an hour on foot. Once
you get off the train, you'd walk under the tracks in the same
direction the train is heading over to 110/broadway, take a
right, walk to the end, take a left, take a right on Bayview an
dwalk to the end.

About Long Island: If you take the 59th street bridge you can
go from manhattan to LI for free (no tolls) but it is hard to find
the LIE if you've never done it before despite numerous signs
(half of them are just wrong). The Midtown tunnel will get you
directly onto the LIE. The Triborough will get you on the the
Grand Central which turns into the Northern State. From CT/the
Bronx you might want to take the cross bronx to the throgs
neck or whitestone, which will spit you out on the cross island
parkway south, which you can take directly to the southern
state parkway. I'm assuming NJers can figure out how to get to
manhattan and then on to long island.

I agree this should be addressed. I'd like to think we could just all assume it'll work out...but let's face it, we're all assholes and inconsiderate fucks. ;p

Food would be nice...but I think the main concern is beer. So we need coolers and obviously, the beer. Since getting the jerseys paid for went off with out a hitch...I say Jon buys the beer and we'll all PAY HIM FOR IT...I think I'll wait till July 13th though.

But seriously folks, as long some of yous out there have coolers and shit (in other words...I don't), I don't think it will be much of a problem. Please though, if you DO plan on drinking, at least bring whatever you're going to drink. If we all do this, then there should be no shortage. And if you're too cheap to bring your own beer...at least bring some weed.

Oh, and if you are caught bringing in a case of Busch of Natty Light...and I see you drinking someone's Sam or Bud...I reserve the right to club you over the head with a bat.

If any of the above is seen by local law enforcement, we are responsible. Our name, and the name of the Chairman, is attached to the field. So not only do you get busted, but you ruin our name too.

1. Passing thunderstorms aren't a huge issue.
2. The weather channel predicted scattered showers for Amityville today. It's been sunny and cloudless since I got up (thank god. My garden is turning yellow from the lack of sun and too much rain)
3. It's only Monday. I'm going to predict sun and retardedly hot temps. I have as good a chance of being right about this as Storm Fields does.

Is the two step lead rule uniform, or does it vary based on the size of each person's step? For example, clearly Manute Bol would have a much bigger step then say...A midget. I think this could heavily weigh in the favor of whichever team gets a large 7'7 African on their side.

Or...ever worse, what if the two steps are those of a 12 step recovery program? If that's the case, the Bad News Benningtons are gonna KILL the Whatleys.

I wanted to post this as a separate thread, but strangely, I am unable to start a new thread in the lounge. I've tried on a PC, a Mac and it still won't work.

Anyway, I want some practice shooting and editing digital video, so I was thinking of videotaping the game. I don't expect anything significant to come out of it, because I'm only doing it for practice. However, if the finished product comes out well, I'll see if I can make it available to attendees of the game for a nominal cost to cover blank DVDs and cases.

I thought it might be a good idea to see if people are generally okay with this. If anyone wants to post this as a new topic, you have my blessing.
